well specifically that one is not designed that way at all, it just can be flipped - and they mark the possible angles on the stem, mtbers don't need neg rise on their stem. these however have been intentionally designed to be flipped...
I was just going on what I'd read on their website:
All Thomson Stems can be flipped and run opposite their stated rise (upside down) giving you more fit options.
Screw the bloody logo! Jesus Christ.

Just need some black pedals now
i think this saddle sucks. sell it to me and i'll 'dispose' of it

Thomson stems are designed to be ridden either way, .
Not the Elite's, only X2's

loving the planet-x and kingcutter creation. you 2 should organise a ninja race battle...you must be about the same height?

Is that two pieces of velcro stuck together and sandwiched in the middle for rigidity?
Yeh, wanted to make sure they had some spring in them/ be nice and robust.
Finished both now, just need to scramble together 8 x 5mm bolts, washers etc and I'm done & dusted.
Oh, then need to finish sanding my frame down, regrease BB, fit new stem, sort out chain alignment and... then Its time for a ride/ face plant.

i would clearly win. i am already an established ninja cyclist...

It doesn't. The X2's just have two logos, one printed upside down so they are never "the wrong way up".

i would hazard a guess that thomson have added that statement because people have asked the quesion as to whether they are flippable, i wouldn't say the stem has been 'designed' to run either way, more of a happy coincidence -
if you went into a shop and they had yours and this one...
i know which one ai would choose...but saying that i don't give a toss really: however hard i try my tyre logos seem to be upside down at some point in a ride

I can see where you're coming from. I'm not pedantic in the slightest so to me it's just a matter of working with what you've got to get the most comfortable position. The stem still looks great, and does the job just as well! (to me at least)
:)
Are they Open Pros on your PX?

Thought so... so they're the ceramics... and not the CDs?
-
• #25767
yeah, i wanted a rim that wouldn't wear off.. ceramics should last years without tarnishing (unless i get grit in them and end up scratching the surface - thankfully crane had a pair for sale so i jumped at them, if i had got them built custom i would have gone for a lower spoke count but these are bombproof at least

Currect project, almost finished.
Been cycling it the past 3 days, feels great, first track frame for me.Going to replace the brake shifters with a small one (paul e-lever?!).
And still looking for a drilled fork but other then that very happy with it.Looks nice, though it does look a bit weird with the brakes... :)
I have to admit that I do not like the look of trackbikes with brakes on them... But I do see the point of having them..
Almost finished ... ;)

what bar tape is that?
-
• #25771
The front lever on that bike is on the left rather than on the right.
But if you've only got one lever I think it does make sense for it to be on the left so that you still have braking when signalling with your right hand, which you signal with far more often than with your left hand.
I dont know know if its continental (I am danish) but I´ve always had the left lever going to the front brake. Confused me a lot to get my first mountain-bike in 91, which was set up the opposite.
Is it coomon to have the right towards the front in UK?

It's universal on new bikes, as the law dictates that they should be that way. You're allowed to swap on your own bike.

Nasty to think of (or some less harsh phrase)
Dictated by law?

Will close-up pics help ya? -

Dictated by law?
http://www.ctc.org.uk/DesktopDefault.aspx?TabID=3804
" it is illegal in this country (under the Pedal Cycles Safety Regulations 2004) for a retailer to sell a new bicycle with its brake levers the other way around. However it is perfectly legal for you to ride with them the other way around and for a dealer to swap them over at your instructions, after the bike is sold.
