The steel is strong and light enough, TFG have more than one type of rack for your liking;
(Gamoh rack). Are you using a different TFG website or something? I can only see one rack on there.
That Gamoh is really nice but I'd have to get it chromed otherwise it'll look totally out of place. Hence aluminium - I can polish it, and it doesn't rust if it gets chipped (my girlfriend hardly ever cleans her bike and doesn't seem to know what rust is or what it does either). It's only going to be carrying a couple of books so strength isn't much of an issue.
I've seen a Paul Components front basket which is pretty much perfect apart from the lack of wire meshing (which I could attach) and the ridiculous £150 price tag.
Any ideas, or am I gonna have to break out the TIG welder?

Just completed some changes to my Dawes Windsor, needed a bike i felt comfortable going slow on to use on a couple of days a week when i have to commute to an office with no shower, and don't want to be sweating like a paedophile when i arrive.
Replaced the halo aerorage wheelset with the original 27 x 1 1/4 rims, with a zenith hub laced into it by Arup.
Repalced the white charge spoon with a brooks b17 narrow
Replaced the nitto risers with velo orange north road bars, with leather grips that don't colour match the saddle well, think i might have to take the shoe polish to them to colour them more appropriately.
Feels nice going slow on it, which is frustrating to do on my other bike (flyer).

if you've got a tig welder what are you waiting for?
Make me one whilst your at it also!
I also think ed means in the shop as I looked on TFG's website and found nowt.I just utilised the fact that my parents enjoy their wine and grabbed a couple of wine boxes before they headed to be made into firewood.
One has a lid, and will be laquered and attached to my £14 SJS Cantimounted (thanks Sparky for the heads up) rack- and shoved onto the Humu's front.
Then a simple rear rack from OCW which I'll find on the weekend and a much larger Wine box on the rack.Off to the Hardware store for some U bolts, nuts and lacquer...

I also think ed means in the shop as I looked on TFG's website and found nowt.I'm waiting for a free weekend! Uni finishes next week and I've got a week before work starts. I've also got to repaint my girlfriend's bike in that week so I might not get it done.
Wine box sounds cool. Post pics when it's done!

Sorry no pics still getting the hang of this stuff
Bought the raleigh track off lewin a few weeks ago.The white one that had
been painted with dulux. Its a Worksop Carlton 1975.
It has chrome rear end but not chromed head lugs.
It has been drilled for a rear brake. The 1975 team looks like this

I've waited by the fountain at Parliament as per the facebook group, but I didn't see anybody.
If you see someone riding either a gold Raleigh with red tyres and tape, or an early 90s green Townsend MTB, it's me.

its a cetma
http://www.cetmacargo.com/10%20CETMA%20cargo%20racks%20index.htm
right?
lovely racks.thanks henry! those half racks are really nice. It would be a hard choice between the cetma & gamoh... although using google I can't seem to find a UK distributor for cetma so it may be too expensive to get from the US.
will have to check out the gamoh in tfg...

frink rides should be most weeks now, we usually send a message out through the fb group when they are going ahead. Join up, would be good to see you down. "professor frink professor frink, he makes you laugh he makes you think..." classic!
Yep got it from Freshstripe, not cheap .. and yep its the Velo Orange one......
