  • Actually that's the thread that got me worried in the first place. Hardly any Zeniths there.

    But yeah thanks.

Ed's right, if you make sure the BB and cranks match up it'll give you a standard 42mm chainline and more or less any track hub & sprocket should work just fine. There are only fractional differences between different track hubs and cogs, they should all be designed around a 42mm chainline, and if you match those up as well (e.g. Dura-Ace hub with Dura-Ace sprocket, or Miche hub with Miche sprocket etc.) you'll have no problem.

It only gets tricky with BBs and cranks, really, because the cranks are designed for a particular BB offset and there's no "standard" BB offset, only a standard chainline offset.

Sugino cranks + Sugino BB = no worries.

  • I just got ordered of these for my holdsworth, which is rather exciting... I guess think Picnic bike type thing...

    thumbs up.

  • getting a cxp33 on goldtec rear...question is...black or silver?

black - looks nicer imo, but will have machined brake surface unnecessarily (rear wheel) and cost more, and silver spokes (as black cost more)

silver - current rims are silver, look alright, cheaper, spokes match rim, no unsightly contrasting machined surface

    i tink silver.

  • Where did the above poster get the above front rack from?

    means I'm an idiot.
but luckily an idiot who got paid for some really fucking hard work at his last job, sold all his unnecessary bikes and a girlfriend who's bankrolling the kona (it is hers after all)

current bank balance (after paying for my studies at SOAS- thank fuck my mum works there so its cheaper) and my TEFL- £not much above 0.
the bikes I sold covered most of this cost.

  • good work, whats the track frame? i like the paint creeping onto the top of the track ends.

basso- non original forks to be replaced with something nicer.
columbus air tubing. bought outside of ebay from the states after a no bid for a very, very low price.
    just waiting on it.
USPS informs me it has left US soil so god help me now.
i cheated a bit for the cranks and went for BLB pista veras- fluted so they look ok I think and a big chainring when I find it.

i'd like to thank all the people who've sold me various bits and pieces.

    Pimp

  • Friend has asked me to paint his BMX for him. Only a rattle can job, but it's taken all day to finish the first half...
Here's the initial idea for the paint scheme:

Having spent ages priming, wet-sanding, and cutting 5mm squares in masking tape with a razor blade:

Here's the progress at the end of day one:

Somebody should take that 600 group straight to the porn thread I assume its getting on the Gazelle?
(A bit extravagant with both the long and medium / short cage rear derailleur)
    Have you good some lever-hoods?
Please find some old NOS-rims to build the wheels with! ANd have you got the casette too? It was nice that you were able to build the freewheel with rings of choice and spacers!

Good luck with the build (could you get stem and seatpost for this generation too - or was that the next generation - DA ex/ax?)

  • stem/ seatpost unsure of...

    medium range derailleur.
    should be arriving tomorrow!!!!
    excited.

  • Henners, whats that Kona frame? they're awesome, I want one, make an awesome cargo bike i reckon...

  • Lemon, it's the humuhumunukunukuapua'a, they have it for decades, not sure if they still have it in 2010, I remember they did a couple years ago.

edit - they're now called the humu.

  • velo solo make them/ I heard Tokyo Fixed is stocking them

Can't see them on velosolo, tokyo fixed have a rack but it's different...

it's a really nice rack too.

  • Oh tokyofixedgear does have them, I brought the exact same one for the missus' bike from them not long ago.

  • Cheers Ed, although Henry beat you to it via enthusiastic PM ;)

Have to keep my eye on ebay me thinks..
