Put gears on the bike that fit you perfectly, i.e. the Pinarello, it make sense to make it even more comfortable, especially on the long ride from East to West just to have some pints.
I feel it would be idea to run the Simoncini single speed for now (with chain tensioner) so you can decide whether you want to put gears on it or not, it would be a waste if you spend age and money getting all the component for it and end up finding that you don't like how it ride.

awesome frame, dont make it a fixie, c-record would be nice on that frame. Is it Gilco tubing, how many ridges? 4 or 6?

I'd like to find out more about the frame first.
As it was NOS, would be good to build it up slowly and with the right components.I have other bikes to ride around - this one is for the mantlepiece.
If anybody knows anything about Simoncini bikes from the 90s, please let me know. Also, if any of you guys speak Italian (yes, I've got Italian blood in me, but never had chance to learn the damn thing), can you email them for me? I don't think they can be bothered to replay to emails in english.

I do tend to kick things and punch holes in freshly put up plaster boards when annoyed. Beware.

Pinarello is in the queue. I've just found the very rare Chorus 16h hub for 8 gears cassette, so it will be build into the Shamal (and I almost thought about selling them). C-Record rear and front with a Centaur compact cranks for now.
This one will have Triomphe for now, if I go for the geared setup.
I've seen very nice Mundialita saddle in the BLB, but the blue suede is in a different shade, so probably will go for black or white Concor/Turbo.

I like to think of mine as a bastardized c'dale track tribute though..
Still need to cut a few mm off the steerer and various other things. -

OK, Forum has spoken.
Goes to buy cable cutters.

Fuck the Forum, build it how you want, you just have to follow the 2 golden rules of not fucking with the braze ons and dropouts, and keeping the paintjob. Whichever build is going to put a smile on your face is the way forward
