Had a delightful afternoon yesterday in Upper Wraxall chatting with Robin Mather about my new ti road frame.
I already have my Cyclefit data which he is happy to use. He and I have a similar idea that the frame should be built for fit and function primarily, aesthetics relegated down the list. My basic brief was a road bike for racing and sportives. When it came to geometry etc I felt no need to dictate anything as WTF do I know about tube angles etc.
Last year he built his new jig for the ti frames, fully adjustable he can dial inthe contact points to fit and it had all manner of connecting tubes for the argon gas.
Lead time is a few months so will have to be patient.
The other joy was cycling around roads I did not know with some serious hills - a 1:4 hill coming out of bath was a bitch to get up. It was totally exhilarating seeing new vistas rush past at speed on the descents and have the time to take in the view whilst gurning up hills on 48:19. Oh and Rob has great cake too!
I bought my serotta because I like their dropouts, cake was the clincher with Mather- I lie he got the deposit over a month ago but cake would have been the deciding factor.

I actually piss myself whenever I see a BMX on the road.
I mean, it's not like Geekhouse, Affinity, MASH etc. are designed for street riding?
Oh they are.
Don't really take much interest in the hipster brands mate, they are "designed" for pushing on the pavement. But Affinity make a track bike, for the track.

What a load of crock. Have a look at Henrys , or Dale/Murtles Geekhouses, and various other peoples 14's, Forts, Mash's etc etc and eat your words.
Whilst i agree that a lot of lo-pros are overly HHSBiked, and equally a lot of people are riding around on bikes that are not remotely the right sizes for them, if you have one that fits, and is kitted out to do the job at hand, then they are no problem as a daily ride.

Just finished the bike I have been building over the last couple of weeks for my housemate. She wanted a nice, small singlespeed bike, the Koga-Miyata Prologue frame we bought from Chips was a perfect start! The wheels were also bought on the forum, and the rest of the parts were eBay purchases...
Next up... My track frame comes back from the painters on monday, and if I have the energy after my weekend in hospital, i'll be putting it together!
what a good looking bike! and its so nice to ride!

will you ever actually use the drops? Seems stupid to me to have drop bars with anything other than drop levers.
-
• #22198
i will use them but not always/ so i find the levers more comfortable where they are now
