  • Nice one. Clearly too much effort for a lazy cunt like me but it does look cool.

    Thank you. Sorry for being a grumpy cunt the other day. *I* was being a bit uptight!

  • No worries. I didn't have to comment but I was in a bit of wind up mood (my normal mood). Don't take anything on here too seriously.. especially nothing from that hippy prick. :)

  • My beater/town bike is starting to come along.

    Finaly finnished the wheels (coaster/MA3 rear + Shimano dynamo/Open Pro front). The MA3 was a nightmare to get true... every time I relieved the tension it just went completely out.

    Loving my new Park TS2.2 - massively OTT but it works a treat.

  • ive been wanting a fixed gear for a while and finaly got all my stuff together im using a raleigh tourist frame and forks because they were free off ebay! haha :)

    cheers tom

  • perhaps, doesn't stop the saddle soreness (and I didn't raise it way too high like those fixie skidder in MASH)

    Just for shit and giggle, I put a different bar on it, it end up being a lots more fun to ride;

    Not looking forward to selling it this week at all, but then, I'll be £200 up, and that'll go to the Condor Pista.

    Hmm - Ed - I have a genesis in the shed gathering dust. You've inspired me to do something similar for a winter hack. Did you use a singlespeed conversion kit for this? And what cranks are they? I may pm you for more details.

  • Yes, just a basic one, the rear tensioner is the trustworthy Surly, with some aftermarket cog and spacer from Condor (Formula I think it said), the crank is an Andes I got for cheap 2 years ago before the 'credit crunch' bollocks.

    I'm pretty sure you can get the part for cheap, or reusing the original crank by removing the two of the three chainring (and add some spacer to sort out the chainline).

    If your Genesis is the alu version, you'll find it pretty light (with basic component), the only difference is that my Genesis' rear wheel is a Mavic Open Pro laced to 105 hubs.

    it's worth it just to make it into a singlespeed bike to go around town in.

  • Cheers Ed. If I do it I want to do it cheap so might use one of those DMR kits. Anyone know if they are any kop?

  • Going back a few pages but i really like this. What Cutter version is it, V3 or V4? Also is it a 56cm?

    it is a v3.2 i think and yes 56 cm

  • Quick Google found me those;

    http://www.charliethebikemonger.com/userimages/procart2.htm

    the complete singlespeed kit seemed like a good value, especially when the chain is included.

  • I now no longer ever lock a bike up in Wimbledon, in case the phantom Ed Scoble creeps up on it and replaces all the parts, I'd hate to ride home sat on a Brooks, holding moustache bars.

  • It's for your own good lad, more control on the icy road.

    Clefty made the mistake of locking her bike up in Wimbledon, now it's a Hip Hop Dutch Bike sporting a moustache bar and mudguard;

  • I too am in fear of being 'Nodderised'

    I saw a roadie in tears when he came out of cafe nero to find a front basket on his Cervelo

    Yeah they are alright, do the job. I have the one with lots of spacers on my hack, got a neat chainline. I actually have one of those day 1's too, but gave to a friend. Keep telling him to convert like you have Ed.

  • My first build! - Alan frame, bought from the forum, with recycled bits and assistance from Aroogah.

    Unfortunately it needs a new seat post bolt so not ready to go out on the road today ... yet to find out whether Murtle owes Aroogah a pint ... (yikes, no pressure!)

  • I think I saw that in a certain Pitshanger Lane establishment on Friday..

  • Looking good! Hope to see you riding it out West when the weather sorts itself out.

  • Hey,

    hope nobody minds, just a couple more pics, I won't put up any more.

    Cheers,

    John
