Nice, join the Omega V club :-)
There's a club? I've been missing out :(
-
• #19478
Yeah, we have weekly drinks and a monthly ride

I knew it. You bastards.

Sorted... Rides like a dream... I feel like a proper old duffer on it... :]
look brilliant mate, can't wait to finish mine up.
trying to decided whether I should get 700c or 27" rims for it, with rear coaster hubs and front dynamo lighting.
-
• #19481
Don't worry about it, just get out there and ride, man.
;)
-
• #19482
Instead of deciding which wheel size I need, I should just go out and ride? what a brilliant notion that is!

I´m on the same boat with the Carlton. 27" rims don´t come abundant anymore, manage to track down some rigida NOS for chips, so now I´m sorted. (I posted some 27" SUN rims a few pages back, don´t think they´re worth it). If I could get my hands on some 40h NOS track hubs I would get tandem 27"s, but thats rarer than rocking horseshit.

There was a guy at Herne Hill last year selling a set of lightly used 32/40 Campag Pista hubs for £120... They are out there, you gotta keep looking! He also had some NOS boxed 36h for £130... Alas, I was skint... That was a fucking shit day (bargain-wise)...

^^^On epay right now, saw them yesterday!!^^^ (32/40)

I've got a set of record hubs 40/32h the rear is built into a MA40 rim that was NOS when built and has never been ridden the 32h is yet to be built but I have a open 4cd tim that was NOS that is waiting to go on it (this now has a scuff on the top of the side wall from some idiot where I used to work).
Both hubs are in very good condition.
I could be tempted to sell these.Joe your bike is still a dogs dinner!

You don't necessary need 27", you can have 700c with 28c tyres and it's pretty similar to a 27" with skinny tyres, it's a win win if I have 700c.
Hence why I'm deciding.

When's drinks and rides? (haha)

I've been meaning to ride at Herne Hill for the last three seasons and just never seem to make it there, stuff just keeps coming up. The plan this was to leave/store my own track bike there as a way making sure I made it, except I only got the bike together this week. Still needs a final saddle, probably a Brooks and new tubs, but ho-hum there's always next year. Also got a wicked S3X build coming along that should get finished in January. Thanks to Bob Jackson for making such a great job of the frame :)

I've got to say, I think that's a realy lovely build. Well done.

Hence why I'm deciding.I did Ed, I fitted my Araya's on (with a 28c), thought I could use different sets, all 700c and just swap them around... thing is, it doesn't look right. I guess I really should go by the book on this one. Cheating with the wheel size could mean i would have 1 extra wheelset but still... I'm still getting Omega V's (...and join the club), but for my current/everyday/new/future ride.

loving the discussion on nuno's frame and what he can do with his money. i know for a fact he is going without food to finance his CP's...true suffering for the sake of his art.
this place is for expressing opinions right? in that case in think that rastafied dayglo rainbow paintjob is gash and should only be ridden by a clown/bungle. tis the skier equivalent of dayglo one-pieces...seemed like a good idea at the time but..er...no. please paint and fix asap FFS!
Here is why:
IMO i'd go for lime green metallic, maybe with some chrome, with lugs picked out in white...chromed out h&son v's, silver everything else w/ white bartape, seat and tyres! confront your fears! white is alright!
you wanna replicate that USofA frame go ahead...you'll do a cracking job and it'll be an honourable tribute

This is sooooo nice, I can´t stop locking at it. You got a Pornastar for a wife, it must go to the bike porn thread!!! -

Done for now.
My favourite detail is the seatstaybridge, I made it from a piece of chainstay.
I carved the lugholes myself, hard to get right and takes forever.
I´m really happy i went ERTRO 571 for this. It rides better than any fixed gear I have ever ridden. Even though the front end is not super aggressive it handels just so because of the ridiculously short rear. It also accelerates very nicely, in short its the most awesome thing i have ever owned and i love it. Sadly its not as pretty as the Bob Jackson overhead, but you can´t have everything, can you? -

i have a pair of 27" rims.. they could be 32/40h. However they're quite old as they were off a 1949 Hobbs i was given so they date from roughly then.

No, there was no space for a chain stay bridge because the bottom bracket is so high in relation to the wheels axle (small wheels, hight BB).
Ah you got them so quick,
