Dutch Cheese - do you know where I could pick up some more info on the frame? according to the seller it was a special order model for a racer. I have the frame number...
Hard to tell.
Gazelle Track frames were ALWAYS special order. They never stocked track frames.
Sometimes it was an "average" track frame, no special geometry or frame parts, sometimes really customized with special geometry, e.g.
There's no real database with frame numbers and customers or riders.
The well known Gazelle fan site has a set of frame numbers that may give you a rough indication of the year of build.
The fact that is is a respray doesn't make it any easier to get more details. -

How do you know it is a respray?
It has a sticker on it denoting that it is made from colombus tubing that was apparently relatively unheard of for Gazelle's at the time.
cheers for the info.

Here are some pics of my new gazelle with some wheels in.
Wowzers, what a babe. Can't wait to see the finished build, put some nice drops on it, would ya?

beatbeatbeta - yep, it's going to have some drops and also another stem/bar combo with... risers. So I can ride it on the road and on the track comfortably.

This is my new project bought from JD just before I left London.
Its a 48cm Ward Track frame. Columbus tubing. Really happy with it but due to limited funds I havn't done that much to it yet. With Christmas coming I'm hoping to have it all built up in time for spring. I have a seatpost and a pair of hubs for the new wheelset so far and trying to source the rest of the parts. I can't wait !!

first, good luck finding a ratio that pulls your wheel that close. Second, good luck getting your wheel on there when you do find it. Third, if you manage to do it, when you ride over dirty roads you'll hear the shit on your tire grinding on your seat tube.
that will be so fun.

^^ dont be silly, i have my wheel all the way in the drop outs on both my track frame and never have any of the above listed problems
-
• #18813
Yeah, my seat stay bridge removes any dirt before it gets to the seat tube! Running a 25c and have around a 1 mm clearance on bridge.

the wheel is pushed all the way into the drop-out, that is the extreme, not the norm.

the bike doesnot even have a chain yet, i am just gonna put the gear ratio on that i want, not the one that gets the wheel closest to the seattube, still like the fact that it can get that close

+1 i have mm's clearance on my steamroller, no probs at all, and that was a ratio chosen well before i ever got the frame, not one picked specifically for clearance reasons.
Cheers Re-cycled, I have some serious excitement building for when I can ride it!
