  • Those Miche one that snap like toothpick.

Ed that's complete crap, there is only one picture of a broken one and that is from prolly who broke it doing tricks, for everyone else it is fine.

  • Me.

  • That puppy looks like it was found in that washing machine

  • To be fair Skully, it's something you can easily revert back into a classic geared bike.

    or even add this on it;

  • That puppy looks like it was found in that washing machine

my cat went into the washing machine by accident, she got in, I close the door and turn the washing on.

How she survived is a miracle, she wasn't even scared, just slightly miffed that she have to spend all night cleaning herself silly.

  • ok ok! First time caller, long time listener....

This is my first, and current build. Obviously I'm not going for the "classic look", more of a street bike thingy ma bob. I'm sort of collecting decent bits in the process (yes I know they're Andel Cranks) so I can put them on a more decent frame later.

Opinions and Charge Plug haters please!!

nowt wrong with andel cranks, yeah they're no Paul's but i've never had any problems.

bike just finished for my girlfriend. Yes, its fixed with no foot retention, but with front and rear brake its seems like less of an issue. Saddle will be lowered for her of course. Just wish I new what the frame was...

Sorry that the pics abit large.

  • Looks good.

    What's the frame?

  • Cheers. No idea what the frame is. It has quite nice lugs with small cut outs in them and gippieme dropouts, so it cannot be that bad, but i have no idea beyond that!

  • Cantab, maybe it's a 'nether regions' issue, but those Brooks saddles aren't meant to point down like that. If anything the nose needs to point up a bit more than other saddles.

    Sorry if I missed something.

  • The Brooks saddle pointing down like that could simply mean you'll need to lower the saddle a little bit.

    sorry if I missed something.

  • haha yea. As i said, its for my girlfriend, and I've just been pissing about on it, so I haven't actually got it set up properly. When she finally gets on it, I will my make sure its set up right for her, or get a different saddle if she finds it uncomfortable!

  • I have a Holdsworth Equipe which was my first proper bike at the age of 16 which came with 26 x 1 1/4 wheels originally. I still have a front wheel if you want it. However, it's a steel rim! I think you may have trouble finding anything else. I had a real problem sourcing replacement wheels/rims of this size last year when I built up the Holdsworth again and in fact I ended up fitting 700c wheels in the end- which just about fit the tiny frame. The only 26 1 1/4's I could find for it were NOS steel rims from SJS. I have a couple of tyres to fit these wheels as well but they are just plain old black. They are NOS and I have not used them. If you want wheels and/or tyres they are yours for nothing but the energy you'll need to get to London SE23 and back.

The rims, in steel are, available from the vintage cycle company. Think they are £20 each rim.

  • @ Pisti... Looking slick
@ DMCzone... It would appear you invented the word.

  • Yep you're right. I do actually love my Andel cranks, they've been great to me... but when I can afford some Paul's or 75's I think they have to be retired.

  • started a new project and it went a bit out of control

  • Still waiting on hubs :(
Really happy with the biege/gunsmoke combo though.

  • I'm thinking of getting some of these bars, does anyone either know the clamp size or happen to have some for sale rather cheap?

    http://archie-wilkinson.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=70&products_id=205

are there any cheapish alternatives that anyone can think of? i've not seen any similar bars in any of the shops i've been in recently and i really want to get my beater set up as more of a cruiser, a bit less aggressive.

    and
Thunderbird 1 is getting a revamp with:

    and other things.

all sitting near me right now.

I just need to decide between an SA S3X, a simple fixed hub/ velo solo thingy/ level rear/ a ss disc rear for thunderbird 2.

Lots of lovely bits there. Should be gorgeous.

As for the rear hub for the thunderbird 2. Have you considered a Hope ProII trials/SS, uber loud freehub and loads of pick ups.

  • That looks like a formula for something tasty - come to wests this week and regale us with your ideas

  • SA S3X

    Good to have you back

  • @ SF: i was just looking at that on chain reaction.
tempting for sure. 48 pick ups = loud as.

    @VV
The only issue with the SA S3X is that the bike is 135mm rear spacing, (cos I'm special and like doing things differently and to allow the potential future use of gears on it (shocker))
Its nice to be back for sure, I've missed London heaps.

    @ Arrggghhh
I can't make it to west this week, have UKCAT Friday so currently doing exam prep all of a day or so after landing in this country.

the rack won't be on it the whole time (obviously), was planning on making it an all round (fixed) tourerererer, including fatter tyres and stuff.

  • @ Eyebrows, I'm sitting at work and that collection of parts has made me genuinly excited, good show. Looks like it's in good hands

Well when you're done fooling around with acronyms then come out for BEERS.

PS - Thanks for making me sound "pirate-y"
