  • Look is looking good!

Thing about theose Ergo stems is you can contort them into a position where they do look good, but this ususally puts em in a position where it feels like shit, so kinda defeats teh whole purpose - def fuction over form with them.

Personally i would put a Cinelli 1R stem, and Campag Pista Cranks,Campag aero seatpost and a period Sell Italia Flite on there - would look, and ride, awesome

  • KC: I might be going against the majority here, but that look frame, with such a simple block colour and slightly over-sized tubing needs a deep section rim, ideally in the same blue as the decals.

i think was an authentic build, not so much of a pretty build

I have been pissing around with the stem all night and to be honest it's great but not a keeper it was nice to see what it looked like on the frame but i am going down cinelli road ,I have bought a nice set of drilled cranks off H Stone so i think one of those Miche seatposts would look good with it.

    good choice

  • what's the rear spacing on the ribble?

It's meant for gears, so 130mm spacing

I know it's very wrong but I can't help thinking what these may look like LOL

  • you are defo having a laugh KC.

  • One day you will all realise, that KC's way is the only way to go :-)

  • Oh dear god no.
thats not what I was getting at at all.

Dark Blue B43s or summit. I don't think the frame is classic looking enough to go for a classic build, if you know what I mean. Got nowt against old school campy record, but it lends itself to a less "in your face" oversized tubing block coloured type of frame, and more to a colnago master track from the late 80s type thing, or any pretty lugged frame. LOOK stuff always strikes me as a more in-your face type of thing, with bold colours, thick lines and big curves. Big and bold rather then thin, shinny and subtle.

    IMHO of course.

  • and plastic. 80s plastic. Thats LOOK stuff to me.

Calm down dear i was only joking.

  • Calm down???
I'm not even remotely worked up.

  • If those are H+SON rims, your rear wheel is fucked already... I had H+'s from the 1st batch at BLB, after laced they presented some grooves...just like those. They just don't take the pressure of the spokes. I was told it was faulty but it wouldn't compromise... let's just say I didn't feel OK with the chance of what if. Change that.

Nah these are B43's, they aren't actually as bad as the pis. I'll get em checked though, tension is good?! Velocity eat shit for order time here in NZ anyway so no point now, wouldn't get here for like 8 weeks?? not pulling these apart to send back and wait forever.. But thanks i'll surely see what the LBS I ordered them from says!

  • pretty ironic when NZ is close to Australia than England!

Duarte Frame w/Cinelli lugs, and dated 1984 on the bb shell. 172.5mm mavic cranks to a fyxomatosis chainring. At the moment a dura ace rear hub re-dished and running shimano freewheel.
As soon as i can get to Sao Paulo there will be some NOS Rigida DP-18's on there, and a small flange dura ace track hub.
Mavic bars and stem, Campag Record headset, Shimano 600 NOS Brake levers to Ultegra Brake Calipers, running 2 brakes because i can, and cos it's single speed.
Also have a set of Ultegra gear adjusters on there so it can double as a road bike, should take 30 mins to change everything over.
All in all not too bad for a bike that has taken 10 months to build!

  • can't remember whose bike it is, but a regular on here has a sweet 2 tone green lugged bike with mudguards, i think maybe a back-pedal brake and leather contact points? I think it has a saddle bag too..

if anyone knows the one i mean, could they post up a pic?

  • skully.

  • Just build these for winter use... In Copenhagen (and Denmark in general) winter is the excuse to put tons and tons of salt on the roads here... not something I'd like my current Campagnolo Shamal/Miche Primato+CXP14 summerwheels to experience..

Yes, I did get the spokes REALLY cheap.
edit; and the rims+hubs where cheap ass well :)

  • I had a pair of carbon forks sitting around for a while, so thought I better get them cut for the lo pro before I decide to build a whole new bike around them. Switched to drops as well...

    before

    after

  • What's the frame?

  • What's the frame?

It's the bit in the middle that you hang all the round bits and the curvy bits off.

  • What's the frame?

    it's a 14, same as mine.

thats nice bigfoot..... i was thinking about putting carbon forks on mine, but couldn't decide.

i couldn't find any decent looking 1" threadless ones anywhere.

  • and pretty expensive to boot, have you thought about the Easton EC90?;
