thompson don't make seat posts size 26.6/5/4mm, do they?
-
• #14654
they only have 26.6, and my seat tubes slightly bent, so a) it would be REALLY hard to get it in and b), i would ruin the seat post.
plus i wanna get ourys for it, but i dont know what colour to get, i wanted to get dark blue, but i dont think you can get dark blue. anyone got any ideas?

My first road bike/fixie project, building it to pop into town so i dont have to leave my mountain bike locked up all over the place. Cost me £6.
Edit* Wow thats a big pic, anyone wanna tell me how to make it smaller?

^ £6 = win

Don't forget to put a back brake on if you're currently riding singlespeed.
-
• #14658
£6 = truly impressive budgeting!

Tell me about it! Auctions can be pretty damn good. Im not currently using it, i just singlespeed'd it so i could have a little razz outside my house. New wheels and saddle (and Paul components lever) and it'll be done. Really quite enjoying learning about fixed gears, i thought it would be simpler but it really isnt! chainlines and gear ratios being the current mind benders, lots of useful info here though.

I think that would make a fantastic little beater, since it cost you £6, why not try and keep it as low as possible?
I find people enjoying their beater more than their pride and joy (from my observation), purely because they're not worried about getting the paintjob chipped, or worried about it getting stolen etc. and because they're not worried about that, that allow them to simply focus on just enjoy riding the bicycle.

Ray, are you an architect? that's a beautiful structure - reminds me of a grid shell structure i helped to build designed by Florian Beigel - i'll take a look when i'm next on the south bank
Hey B, long time...
this grid shell??
The structure unfortunately isn't a true grid shell... its made from 3 steam ply modules. 1 is a semi circular, 2 a shallower radius and 3 a double curve like an s shape.
Its been getting good feedback, be good to know what you think.

Thats the idea im going for ed, Ive got a front mavic ksyrium wheel for it (i bought it simply because of the funky spoke pattern) I spent too much on that so the rear wheel is gonna be a cheap second hand fixed/free affair, overall build is gonna be under £100. Bikes are there to be used and loved, no point wrapping it up in cotton wool and crying over little scratches!

@ Mikey Mike - Same as the one in your picture (er, I think.) Well, it's a Peugeot of the same colour and decals. Why?

Why the fuck do you want risers really? Fucking useless on a track/racing frame.

Bought this raleigh zenith frame from a real nice guy on here the other week.
Just saving for a pair of cranks and a new bottom bracket. (sugino rd2's i think)
sorting out a buckled rear wheel from my old build in the next couple of days.
can't wait to be riding again :) -
