  • got a special rare item for her....

    Some of these?

  • Here's my effort.

I wanted something kind of low-key and elegant, but purposeful, and as far away from hipster/retro-bore as it's possible to get with a fixed-gear. So.... '80s Graham Weigh 653 road frame / dead puppies / armourtex off-white ( but with metal sparkle as a nod to it's 80's heritage ) / all bits either I already had, or are off eBay apart from the front caliper. Probably a bit dull and ordinary for most, but it rides wonderfully - great handling and smooooooth as you like - and actually I couldn't be happier with it!

  • nice and clean, do you always carry a mallet when going into the park?

Ha! Only when I'm getting my stem height sorted out. :-)

    Thanks.

  • that's really nice, well done.

  • that is one of my favorite 'non-track frame' fixed gears, well done. Normally it looks a bit wrong but it really doesn't on yours

  • I agree with the above posts, nice conversion.

  • Thanks peoples ^^, kind comments.

  • Some of these?

    close but nah...

    got this on order...

  • sgt - yeah really really nice man, looks speedy...

  • new bikes looking good dayno!

  • that is really lovely, the wheelsets is a pretty good build isn't it? (Condor hubs with Open Pro), pretty reasonably light.

  • and actually I couldn't be happier with it!

And that's all that counts! Nice ride.

  • sgt-pluck - whats the RAL code old bean?

Thank you. Yep - the Condor hubs are just basic Dia Compe rebrands and ride nicer than the Formulas I had before. Got the wheelset of eBay months ago and wasn't sure about the black hubs but actually they're fine. Lucky - cos I pretty much based my colour scheme around them!

And that's all that counts! Nice ride.

Yup - and thank you also.

9001 (cream I think they call it) with the sparkly lacquer that Armourtex do.

    P

  • nice wan.

  • Finally got around to swapping my freewheel for a fixed cog, fitted some riser bars and a new back tyre (managed to grind through the last one while removing the canti-mounts from the frame!)

Still getting used the the fixed gear thing - getting up and down kerbs is a bit tricky currently and I'm yet to do a successful skid stop but I guess it'll come with practice! Need to sort out some clipless pedals or straps asap.

Next up is probably re-painting the frame and forks although it's currently quite theft-resistant!

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thats a beauty hugo but aren't the brake cables a bit long?

  • Pravs bike ^

  • !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh come on it's not even that bad.

  • thats a beauty hugo but aren't the brake cables a bit long?

yeah maybe... went on ray dobbin's site to check out how he's done his.

Can always cut more off, but never vice versa.

Just been trying to adjust gears and seat, as I flew over the handle bars the other week when an old couple pulled up without indicating. Think I've got it sorted now.

Lovely. The sparkly off white looks great.

  • Mmm Shiney

My lovely freshly polished campag hubs for my new build.

  • :D Very shiny!

I learnt how to make a old stem shiny yesterday. I felt proud of myself blush
