^I recon so. Esp if the Gitane is mainly orginal it might be nicer to leave it.

Gitane has mainly original parts yes, and it's a beauty to ride, whereas the Peug is just a frame.. so... :D

Just had another look at your Gitane. I'd keep it as is. Always good to have a geared bike and the Pug will be a good conversion.
That said, it would be faster and cheaper to convert the Gitaine.

True, but I have some friends who are leading me their parts, or I can get some off them bit by bit on the cheap to build up this one.

Here's the Tom Board Paris I'm building for my Dad:
It would really do with a proper restoration and respray - but I'm waiting to see if he likes it before I commit to doing that! Should really add some gears and not a cobbled together groupset.
All I need to do now is cut down the bars a bit, add the grips and find some brakes!
The frame is a beaut, I just wish I was tall enough to ride it - but obviously the height genes came from my mothers' family... or the milkmans.

I have to say that i found the Charge Knife quite a bit comfier than the Spoon, on a par with my Toupe. It occurs to me that whether or not people where Lycra/Padding makes a big difference to how a lot of saddle work out, but is never mentioned when these things are discussed. If i am going sans padding, i still find the original Concor the best.
Did you find yourself needing to move the Charge saddle a bit more forward when you first got it?

Heres one of mine. Needs black tape, I know. Sorry for the shit photo. I'm on my phone.
Wheels are mavic ellipse. Bars post and stem are nitto. Headset is King. Frame is Waterford 2800.
FWIW, the whole bike is much darker in person. You can see in the white door sealing that this photo is about a stop or two overexposed.
Peace.
wow no offense to anyone but this is The nicest bike i have seen for a long time
