  • Pmp cranks are a nice touch

  • ...i don't know what you heard a-bout me

  • that I am a m-fin' P-MM-P

  • Super lovely!

The plastic bottle + handlebar bag finish it.

  • Thanks for your nice comments! I spontaneously bought the PMP crank when picking up a stem I bought of eBay. It’s my first time using a compact crank and I like its look paired with 7800 dura ace. Actually I am using many left over bits (7403 wheels, 7700 rear shifter, 7800 brakes, 7900 dt shifter) but it works well as 10 speed. Going to mount a 7800 front shifter in the next days to replace the 105 which is not working all that great.

  • What's the story of this frame? How old is it? Why does it have tricolore on the forkcrown and why does it have a seperate seatpost clamp??

  • I think the frame is from 2009. It was built by Nakagawa for the Japanese version of the “Rapha Continental”. There are some pictures of the frame on Flickr and there is an interview at the washing machine post of Raphas Japan representative in 2009 talking about ordering the frame. I just bought it recently second hand so I don’t know why it has the Tricolore… but about the seperate seat clamp, that’s a change in design Nakagawa did about that time… when you look at his recent frames they all have seat clamps.

  • winter road bike more or less ready, need to get some flaps and mess with the fit still. 50 quid! ebay frame thanks to @Glws

  • I meant to reply to your text saying this, I forgot but you've reminded me now. This makes a good flap, I've tried 3mm and 4mm, 3mm probably best. Could go 2mm for even more weight weenie gains. I just drew the shape I wanted in cardboard and then cut the rubber around it.

  • Gimme those forks plz!

  • Euuuugh. Really thought I'd finally finish building this weekend and have a fun bike to bomb around on but turns out that VO seatpost is literally garbage. Besides being designed by Satan (requires holding 5 loose components together off-bike with one hand while blind threading the bolt with the other) the single threaded piece immediately shed some metal and cross-threaded, rendering it unusable. Will sniff around local shops for a Ritchey Classic or similar I can just buy tomorrow but not hopeful.

  • Lovely selection of parts! Hope you can find a suitable seatpost soon. Sim Works Beatnik would look great!

  • wooden bars are an interesting choice.
    What's the story there?

  • Got lucky! Found a Thomson in the right spec for a nice price after all. @bigshape bar is from Passchier, I ran it for a couple of weeks on the predecessor before starting this build - very noodly but very comfortable. They say not to be used for real mtb riding, drops etc but ought to be fine for faux-mtb and casual use I reckon. It's about a dozen slices of wood laminated under pressure.

  • Love love love those bars!!!
A review would be good once you’ve used them in anger/love.

  • Looking forward to this!
