  • Bar bros!

    Bike’s looking good.

  • Nice build

  • Was only looking for a XT derailleur, this one came with a bike attached for the total sum of 5 EUR.

Curious to take this apart. The frame is made by Hans Lutz, a German track bike professional with olympic medals on his CV. Appears to be Columbus SLX tubings, probably decent stuff.

The handle bar situation is all over the place.

  • Those bars.....

  • that's pretty wild, I wonder if the thumb shifters were on the bars before the extension pieces were welded on?
did you get any back story about the bike from the previous owner?

  • Would be interested in the handelbars if you decide to move on from them. (im in eu not uk)

  • Yes! Recognised them on your biek, wanted to comment, forgot..
I now need much sweep due to a broken elbow, and they're very comfortable. Weigh half a moon though. It's nice they have so little rise (15mm) for such swept back (45degree ish) bars.
    @kjlem, tanks!

  • The bar position for the bottle doesn't work though; I hit me knees when getting out of the saddle.
Tried flipping it to the front but also doesn't work due to the bars. Back to the drawing board.

  • Test ride done. It rolls, shifts and brakes. And the fit seems good.
Got some cheapo chainrings fitted just to try out the gearing, will probably look for something better looking later on.

Not decided about bar tape. Play it safe with just a black, or a splash of color?

  • I like that a lot! Black is the safe bet but maybe a hot pink to contrast with the purple might look good?

  • Although maybe a bit much with the silver parts, black and purple frame and tan wall tyres.

  • Gotta go white, icing on the cake Trek

  • Beta testing the colour and graphic package 🥳

  • Had this Merckx 10 years ago and really regretted selling the frame.
But found a new one locally yesterday. Neo-retro project for later this summer/autumn.

  • Nice Eddy's!

I've had some saddle switches and new bar tape and gum walled up all my Eddy's for summer. The green and white one now taking advantage of the wide Pacenti Brevet rins and is fitted with 30c tyres, along with the ti one, with the others all rolling with 28c's.

But sadly its looking increasingly likely summer is not coming to the UK this year.

  • V nice collection. That dark MX-Leader is hoottt.

  • Rebuilt my 93 Cannondale for a bikeless friend. New wheels, stem, seatpost, brakes rebuilt and original fork. My mate loves it so far.

  • I can see why he would like it. It looks like a lot of fun!

  • Lucky guy, great bike

  • @MisterMikkel @kjlem thanks lads. It was always a tad small for me, took off the expensive retro parts for another build. He’s done about 250km on it in the last week.

  • Thanks @ectoplasmosis
Gonna try and tackle this old Colnago Maxim today, it’s soooo heavy. Got some nice bits in the parts bin, gonna go with a surly sunrise bar for that cruiser feeling and a 1x9 drivetrain with a strisland chainring that I’ve had for a few years sitting on a shelf. I’ve got some gravelkings too to try out.
