Berthoud only go to something like 60, I was looking at some wide square skis once.
Also not sure if stainless is the way to go if you don't like patient fettling. -

You mean them being noisy?
Knock knock, open up the door, it's real
With the non-stop, pop-pop of stainless steelI've used GB which I think are stainless steel and VO Alu before with good results
Have also since discovered that PDW do some in Alu, 27.5 x 65mm for the still expensive but slightly less ridiculous price of £130. My tires would be 1mm fatter than recommended but thinking that's an option nonetheless

No, making them fit nicely is very fiddly.
Massaging metal into shape takes more time than SKS in my experience. But my berthouds are way sturdier than the sks on other bikes.
Also stainless stay more or less where they are supposed to be. No experience with pdw. -

Painting a bike to match a bidon is hardcore.

I built a shit new bike. I raided my parts bin and the scrap bin at work so total spend is £20 for the tyres. Nexus 3 speed, Buzzbike frame, forks from a Genesis Day One, posh but ancient Ritchey stem and carbon bars, assorted other shit. Only taken it for a spin around the block but it feels alright. I did a shocking job of painting it so I imagine it'll look even worse soon.

The stance is there, no doubt about it!

In what is my fastest turnaround ever, the above bike is going to a mate. My plan was to store this bike at work and use it as a run around there. I'm changing jobs and the new place doesn't have a massive warehouse that's already full of bikes so I won't have anywhere to keep it. It was fun to build anyway.

POV: build frame you’ve bought years ago when fixed gear was a thing

Some updates on this guy. Continental Contact Urban seems on a first impression, really quite nice.
Just to fit some mudguards and it should be pretty much done.

Slight update for the 695: new wheelset from farsport (air series).
I’m not too sure why, maybe old age but I’m preferring shallower wheelset than deep sections these days.

I don’t know how well they brake, but the integration of those brakes is incredibly. It’s like a combination of disc and rim brakes, aesthetically.
Built this up for my partner in the hope of more road rides together, never owned anything from the era of bonded carbon & aluminium.
