Nice one ! I'm a big fan of the combo Composit+straight thomson ;)

It’s there primarily for fit reasons as that particular combo does give a very firm ride. They are the best posts for tweaking the angles on smps and not slipping though

Apparently someone sent @Hoke a picture of his bike being touted round Bermondsey/Rotherhithe and the rear stays had been smashed/cut through. Absolutely brutal.
Urgh, not good. Is that basically a sign of things to come? I mean, you can basically snip through a carbon frame in seconds with a pair of cheap side cutters. You could have the best locks in the world but it’s no good when they’re going to do that to get hold of your components.

I forgot to measure stereer before mounting headset... will it work without washer or should I order some lower stack headset?

Also still trying to shift those wheels I built last year. Built 6x sets in total and have 2x left.
I had an old gaspipe steel bike at the back of the project pile. And a cockpit from an hybrid bike.
Just spent a few hours sorting it out.
New wheels - which I was unsuccessfully selling for £60
New Vittoria Voyager 700c x 38mm tyres - £15
New SRAM PC1 singlespeed chain - £8
New grips - £2
New inner/outer Jagwire brake cable - £5Total spent £90 - should sell for £100/£120

Indeed, I'm using composit+thomson for these reasons as well !

I was going to say that looks quite alright and not ugly as usual, then I scrolled down

Not sure I’d feel comfortable taking 120 quid from someone in exchange for that.

Indeed. Without wanting to piss on Vince's chips, it's a tough sell when £129.99 gets you a shiny new BTwin Riverside 100

With a 2 years warranty.
If I was a casual cyclist new to London, I would buy that Decathlon bike and abuse the warranty until it was inevitably stolen.
Or needed a service as most "gold service" cost more than that bike. But people like vintage bikes. And singlespeed bikes.
@PhilDAS I personally would never buy a gas pipe, however this had been serviced.
I have greased / adjusted both BB & headset.
It has new wheels / tyres.
Not the worst deal for £100/£120.So I will not offend you all by posting it here!

I was sitting on my Lynskey and rocked it back and forward with the rear brake fully pulled, i noticed there was quite a lot of movement.
Looking back at my rear brake i noticed the whole calliper flexing back and forward with the rotor. I've tightened all the bolts and it's doing the same thing. I’m not sure if this is because the flat mount section of the chain stay is weak, or because I don’t have the proper TRP mounting bolts. Is that normal? it's a flat mount trp hy/rd with a 140m rotor. Should i be worried?

The washer is there to prevent the headset from coming apart from vibration. So you do need one. However, the top nut doesn't need to be fully engaged (not sure if that is the right word). A couple of threads are fine. That might just give you enough space.

You're getting good at hiding that stem with the bars

Ideal upright position for city riding!
Cockpit came from a 90's Decathlon hybrid. Levers a actually decent Dia-Compe.
I am riding it into work tomorrow so will be able to pick up on things that need tweaking

Centrelock?

Centrelock yeh

• #124595
Probably just the disc moving back and forth slightly, pretty common with centrelock, doesn’t happen in use, nothing to worry about.

Just tried to video it, doesn't look like there's any movement from the side view. Looking down on it I can see a bit of flex laterally.
I won't stress it, thanks for the reassurance! -

Cobbled together a quick commuter for the winter, mostly from parts I had laying around.
Had my doubts about the flimsy fenders but they actually seem to work. Will get a front rack soon :)

Those cranks are cool, what are they?
-
• #124599
They're older FSA Carbon Pro cranks. Sanded off the logos and gave them a clear coat.

Bought a bike a little while back and it has a very fancy carbon hope seatpost which looks to be side loading. The saddle it came with, a Fabric one, doesn’t suit me and my precious saddle (Spesh Romin) has oval (7x9?) carbon rails. I think this means they’re non compatible, is there any way around this other than a new saddle or seatpost?
Finally got this where I wanted it. Also, ritchey eco curves are the best bars I’ve ever used - really get on with shape after ages of trying to like round bars or my usual dedas.
