It's a carbon, aluminum T on a Time Club forks and the steel steerer tube is the same as old SL or whatever: 22.2 inside and the size of the headset outside.
I already had an accident with a steerer tube explosion of so I do not want to bullshit now...

Excellent, I'd leave the hubs as the only red accents though.

Lol obviously, brain spasm on my part. What wheels are you running? How much do they weight? Is ti stem significantly lighter then Aluminium/steel?
-
• #120756
Yeah , I’m not so keen on hubs but they’ll be the only colour on there at the moment .
-
• #120757
No, I think they look great, just no more red things!
-
• #120758
Thoses mismatched clincher wheels a stiff and so so light... Ti stems are far lighter than Steel or Aluminium yes
This Alien Al seat post is dark blue so I leave it even if Alien carbon SP is lighter...
What I'm sure is that I will drill the headset like this or more...
I could do myself again a custom CLB rear brake caliper, it is not excluded...

For a wanton use of the brush script font I must sentence you to no less than... Etc.

: ) on the down tube is OK but you'r right on the seat tube it's disgusting.
Even if I gain a little weight I'm going to put some stickers to hide that!
Yes Tom it's light !!!

Which colour should I choose for the bar tape? I'm leaning towards red, but are afraid that it might be too much. Black is boring.

Grey or purple or tire matchy brown. Then grey or red cable outers.

• #120764
That’s sick.
Black and white fade or hipster mash tape -
• #120765
@rawmeat: Purple could be a cool colour to try, or something red-brownish maybe? I'm afraid coloured outers would be too much?
@PhilDAS: Thanks! B/W-fade would be cool and I've considered something Mash (Caleido). Tho', for now, I'll probably set it up with Tektro RL340's and a bar-end shifter, until I upgrade it with some brifters in the spring. Doesn't want to spend too much on bar tape (like max 8-10 pounds) at this stage, and the generic brands have neither fades or exotic colourways.

This is a good shout. Too bright and it might detract from the paint, but this could work

Black tyres? Hope you're okay Vince.

There were cheap chinese 700x25mm tyres fitted to the silver wheelset fitted to the Van Heste 531 so since they were here & free, I used them on the Gitane.
The Van Heste 531 is for a friend who paid extra to get Schwalbe Marathons.
No creativity from me for tyres this time...
Drilling a fork like that is like stepping on a thin ice, you never know if its going to hold or not. Bare in mind that steerer tube on a Genius fork is probably different (thiner walls) than the steerer on an older SL fork.
