  • Could be, looks like the saddle is almost centred over the rear axle.

  • It's not and the seatpost is possibly a few cm too high. I took a look at the frame again and think I'm gonna remove around half a cm from the bottom of the headtube. It's a low end frame and the build is just for kicks, it'll eventually get replaced by something nicer but it'll reduce the slackness a bit.

  • So my moon shield has finally decided to die on me and therefore I've decided to invest back to Cateye for something more 'areo' and definitely more bright/visible. (not saying the moon shield wasn't btw)

With the new job I decided to splash out and finally get a rear light (especially with daylight getting shorter)

Initial impression is good, so far the cateye x3 has been super bright and holding firm tucked underneath the saddle rails.

  • This looks ace man

  • Have had some blue anodised Open Pro rims kicking about for ages.

Finally got round to building them up, and mounted them on the SOMEC.

    Quite happy with the result:

  • Thanks, the geo kinda reminds me of your elin.

  • wowzers, the ano matches perfectly, so that a thumbs up.
the blue walled tyres tipp it over the edge though, get something black or tanwall..

  • I meant to add a note about the tyres.

They came with the previous wheelset, and were well and truly dissed last time I posted an update about this bike.

There is currently an 'issue' with the left hand ergolever, once I sort that out, I will deal with all the smaller details.

  • haha. well i am a bit nicer to strangers on the www (whats wrong with me?!)
re: ergos; wd40 the hell out of it and see if it cleans the goo? read that that might work for non clicky ergos.

  • Will give that a go, cheers.

  • How does it attach? Also what's the side visibility like?

  • I’ve attached it to the underside of the fizik saddle little hook where the detachable plastic piece use to be. Side visibility is great. (It makes my ass looks like it is on fire)

  • Drop bars fitted and it's done, £175 well spent.

    NDS fail

  • Good job, some ratty black 75s would round it off nicely!

  • Nice one! Maybe next time some drive side pictures? :)

  • Road logic built up, potenza, athena and record mix.

  • Rides nicely, very smooth, nicely stiff and decent weight.

  • ^^ We'll have to take your word for it since the bike seems to be playing second fiddle here...

  • Black Mountain Cycles suggested using a heatgun on "frozen" shift levers to get the stiffened lubricants working again.

  • Not sure if I'm better off on here, or on the wheelbuilding thread so feel free to tell me and I'll move it. Looking to upgrade the wheels on my pre cursa (Navigator Street ). This bike is mainly used for social road riding and as many fixed crits as I can fit in! There is no issue with the current ones, but I'm looking to move them on to another build and I'd like something a bit wider so cornering is less iffy.

I'm torn between DT R460s on novatec hubs (from research the weight and tolerances are the main changes between more expensive hubs, as smoothness would be mainly dictated by bearing quality?) OR saving up a bit and getting some medium depth crabon from China (probably CN Carbon) to similar hubs.

Are there any there any other reasonable combinations to consider? I'm doing my best to keep this as low cost as possible, but build a wheelset where I can get what I need in terms of cornering but sacrifice weight which given the amount I climb is less important for me. Always happy to get stuff from classifies where possible!

Probably lots of mistakes and incorrect assumptions here so please direct me in the right direction!
