  • Matchy stem too far?

No, also I really like the colour.
Many will disagree about matchy stem though

  • I have built a bike (for my new flatmate) around the frameset I was selling (I was after £40 for it). Managed to get rid of all my blue & yellow parts, and it doesn't look bad either!

    • Columbus Aelle frameset, 56cm. Fitted a Chorus threaded headset from the spare box.
    • New UN55 BB in 112mm (£7.99)
    • Sachs New Success chainset with single ring bolts (£4.99) and 46t TA Specialities chainring. No name pedals
    • KMC black n' yellow chain (£3.49) and Atom 16t freewheel (£5). Chain tensioner from from here (£15 with singlespeed kit I ended up not using)
    • Sachs New Success stem in 130mm, can of tonic water shims and new chilled steel bars from SJS (only £7.99). New levers (only £4.99 for the pair) with a parking brake button. New grips (only £0.99)
    • wheels are Sachs New Success hubs with sealed bearings on Ambrosio Excellence at the back and Rigida at the front. Flipped the rear axle and redished the rear wheel to optimise chainline. Tyres are colour code Michelin Lithion in 23mm
-Seatpost is no name aero with a SDG saddle.

All in, it comes to about £180 all in which is decent for a pub beater!

  • Nice! Where did you find such a bargainious un55?

  • That's far from an exact match with the compost bin. smh.

  • It is actually a UN26, good spot!

I usually bulk buy in the CRC sale so always have spare BB / brake pads / bar tape / tyres / inner tubes / cables / grips / chains for future builds.

  • Yes sir! I was gifted some 700x30c cx tyres by my lbs when I bought the seatpost and those have since been put on. Fill up the space and look pretty good I think. There is room for bigger tho!

  • Strong choice

  • When you build a bike up to sell only to realise it's better then any of your other bikes...

  • Various projects in various states.

  • Nice corima, build it up :)

  • Needs selling tbh, I just can't be arsed dealing with a buyer. I won't be riding it again.

  • Do I see a Hellas?

  • Ive wanted a bike with a colour matched stem for a while. Taking orders yet? My argos needs a fresh job

  • Haha you wouldn't want it done by me

  • How stupid would it be to buy a cheap brazing torch and add disc mounts and cable guides?

  • Depends how much you enjoy chewing your food

  • Well it would only be on the rear. I'd just swap the forks.
I'm not too fussed about chewing anyway.

  • Cheap brazing torches are really stupid. The rest sounds like a plan!

  • Freewheel may not engaged properly and likely to cause skipping due to the chain being too long, can you shorten it by one link?

  • I could shorten it - yes

There is tension in the chain tensioner thought so I don't think it will actually skip since everything is properly in line 🤔
