Garbaruk ring is pretty nice, still needs a rack for commuting duties. Contemplating large Wald vs Pelago commuter.

@pjhobson Yep, am following that with interest. Roadrat does look nice though.
@pascalo thanks. Yes, that looks good. Price is much lower than on their site too...
@AZAA That is pretty, thanks.
@MisterMikkel Ah, found the problem. It's on their GB site. When I view the site as the dirty German forriner I am it is nowhere to be found. Interesting, will have to check availability here.
overall the Roadrat sounds more and more intriguing.

Is 160mm in the front of a bikepacking rig enough to stop it good or should I beef it up to 180mm? I'm 100kg + bike + packing. Or does the size not really matter?

Got my cfr out to finish build. Wheels pictured aren't going on it. Will probably sell f+f soon as can't justify the size.

Basic rule of thumb, bigger is more stopping power, smaller is better modulation.
And yeah, you can do bikepacking even on 140mm rotors, just don't expect to stop really fast. If you would go for 180mm you lock up your wheels really easy, but can stop very fast.
To make things more complex, if you go for mechanical calipers (instead of hydraulic) I would go a bit smaller since they don't have a lot of modulation. However, if you're gonna use some really sticky fat tyres with loads of grip you can go a size bigger on your rotors.
Hope it helps!

Sounds to me that 160mm is the sweet spot really. Thanks!
-
• #115015
30mm tyres is sweet.
Brave doing Sheriffs on a fixehskiddehh.

yeah especially with those BB7 calipers, they lock up wheels real easy.. even 46mm tyres.
Maybe when you switch to hydraulic you could try a 180mm at the front for some extra stopping power.
Glad to help!

Very neat that. A bottlecage and a wheel from being a full 10 for me.
-
• #115018
Hah yes, and thanks. Really strangely and annoyingly the bottle mounts are too wide for my king cages without drilling them, so on go the spares.
Been looking for a matching front Fulcrum wheel for about 10 months.

I'd like it with a matching back wheel tbh. Bummer about them being too wide, would look stellar with King's.

Well, might finally get the Dremel out this weekend.

Bob Jackson recommend Dinitrol ML; you can get an extension hose for the aerosols to get it into all the frame's nooks and crannies more easily.

Thanks!
It will receive the full functional treatment with front rack+wald and mudguards. -

Edit: Pic problems - I'll try again later.
Seems like, I've bought it for a ridiculous price. I'm gonna put it in the backyard and improve when an extra cash will come. It's Columbus Cromor Tubing so it could become a nice all around big city cruiser..
