Built this up yesterday.

That's a nice bike. The butt ugly integrated headset cups on ritchey frames bother me though.
-
• #112330
Hah yeah, the stem appearing thicker than the steerer doesn't do justice.
Still an awesome bike for the money, probably the best steel contemporary road frameset you can get nowadays.

How you finding it? Enve Seatpost?

probably the best OTP steel contemporary road frameset you can get nowadays
ftfy. I don't suppose that even you believe that it's better than what you could have from any number of custom builders.
-
• #112333
Yes, should have clarity with OTP, it's definitely nowhere near the quality of a custom steel frameset.

Verlicchi frame from the nineties. :-)

Lovely bike! I like the integrated headset cups, fuck what anyone else says :)

• #112340
Same that used to make Ducati frames?

That's what I remember. Famous alu-welder from Italy. As far as I remember back than lot's of frames came from that firm: Iron Horse, Sintesi, Rudy Project, Kona...

Got some new wheels in the PX sale (WTB i25 laced to they're own hubs aka novatech) and some new jones'a'like bars
Will get a big boy cassette when this one dies, also will put some squidge back on soon. I really should be running a 2.2" on the back now 2.35" if anyone has a nobby nic that they'd like to change for a larger one.

rad! didn't know you had one tbf, that looks like loads of fun...

• #112344
Awesome info. I couldn't find much about these at all.
Build is going to keep it comfy. Carbon risers with mushroom grips, 1x9 or 1x10, chunky cranks, bit of turquoise anno but that's about as far as I've got. Not well up on mtb stuff yet so I'm on a bit of a learning curve!

Rudy Project is an Italian manufacturer of sunglasses. Back in the nineties they wanted to add a frame to their brand and that's how Verlicchi came in the picture. Marzocchi (another Italian brand, known for their motorcycle suspension) devellopped together with Verlicchi a full suspension frameset (as shown above), that's why you didn't find Verlicchi full suspension framesets with e.g. Manitou or Rock Shox forks (not even on the all american Kona and Iron Horse bikes): they were only available as frameset with front and rear Marzocchi suspension forks. If you have a look at the top tube there should be a stamp "NV", possibly together with one saying "LARM". In the rear dropouts there's normally a stamp "Verlicchi".

• #112346
It's got all of those stamps. The stem also has a matching nv, so I take it that probably means it belongs with the frame.

Didn't know I had a mtb? Ya had it for about a year and a half

If it's one like this, I think so:

What bars bruv?
Also you can get Ergons specially for a swept back bar like that. Those you have being the ones for flat or nearly flat bars.
Otherwise, lovely looking dale.

Fu Manchu bars
Big thanks to @Object and all at Brixton Cycles for LadyLiz's new Troll that we collected this morning. 16" frame looks more like a jump bike than a tourer..
Not much of a project at the moment, more accessorising for touring and dialling in the fit.
To do:
Swap stem for 31.8 and fit Fu Manchu bars
Cut steerer when Tester topcap gets made and tidy cabling
Mudguards - prob sks eventually but cruds will do for now
Rear rack - undecided so far
Front rack - prob lowrider but anythings look ace, have a spare Wald which may go on for now
Find bottle/cage that'll fit the tiny seattube
