  • That's nice mate, love the matching saddle very 90s.

  • Quality, glad it made its way into the forum. If you need a hi-mod SuperSix fork I've got a black one resting in the shed.

  • I've been lurking in the cannondale thread for ages and saw this posted and couldn't help myself. Should be on it's way today.
I'm afraid this months budget is spent now. Out of interest though, how much ££? And what's the benefit over the system six fork? Lighter? Painted or clear carbon?

  • @PhilDAS

Amazing, feel like I've partly gotten over carbon road bikes but this is the one I'd dip my toe in again for. Good price too! Re the fork price maybe around £60 posted? Apparently the Hi-mod fork is supposed to be stiffer due to construction and the weight is nigh on par. Visually mine is the same as that in the link, looks very similar to the OG one. Build thread yeah?

  • Okay, a possibility for the future then. The stock one will be my first tapered full carbon fork so I think I'll find it plenty stiff to start with (apart from the one on my BMC but I've yet to build that up either)
Wasn't going to make a thread but I've got a few slow builds on the way so I might do yeah

  • I've been riding the Pre Cursa I bought some time ago and... it's glorious!

First time riding fixed and it's super fun. Still dialing the position on the bike, so after it's all worked out, I will post some pictures.

  • Ah glad to see someone got that, welcome to the club. HiMod for looks basically the same I have one on mine:

I have a spare systemSix stem too if you want?

  • I have a spare systemSix stem too if you want?

This I am interested in, whats the length/price?

  • Also, is yours the "58"? How tall are you?
I normally ride a 56 and I know these come up smaller when measured c-c.

  • I'll check the length, but I think its a 110/120mm say £30?

    I am 6'4" / 192cm.

Fits me very well, despite my friend describing me looking like a spider trying to stand on a 5p.

  • Isn't 'Dale sizing usually larger?
Risked a cheap '58' CAAD once (usual 56). Big mistake. Seat tube c-t was over 600mm.

  • There is a noticeable difference in torsional rigidity between the standard system six fork and the high mod super six fork- it's a useful upgrade.

  • C-T makes no difference really. If they extended the seat tube up, the frame would be the same size but the seattube would be longer. I'm going by 56 c-c. And cannondale measure c-top of the top tube as far as I know. So actual center will be more like 56 on a 58 I'm hoping.
I'm 6"2 or thereabouts so it might be fine

  • Geo chart actually showing center to top of top tube as 56 on the 58 size so that would make it 54.5 ish c-c so it should fit fine.
    I ride a 120mm on a 56.5 top tube and this has got a 57.5, so I might aim for 110/120mm

  • Yep, I know.
Just using that dim as an example, but turns out I've exaggerated/got ST lengths mixed a little :-)
    Can't fault your logic.
EDIT: If I was to buy another, I'd go for a '56'. Going from a 56 Pre Cursa to a '58' CAAD (first road biek) was like jumping from a sports car onto a garden gate.

  • cant connect...

  • I did the same only to a 58 gt edge. I desperately wanted it to fit but it was just too big. Hopefully this won't suffer the same fate.

  • that's a cracking photo

    (no cannondale pun intended)

  • @PhilDAS my old 56 and I'm 185cm with long arms and legs (with said HiMod fork in question).

  • Well now I'm a bit worried. We're about the same height but I've gone a size up to you and didn't really want any less seatpost showing than you've got there.
Guess I'll have to wait and mock it up when it arrives and sling it back up on here if it doesn't work out. I'm sure I won't have too much trouble getting back £250 quid for it.
Am I right in thinking the seatpost is 31.6?

  • 17 potentially, yes please.

  • commuted on this today, new (old) wheels are lovely. +Howard these are the ones you sold me way back, finally found a cog! Finishing kit is the next thing to change. Want wider risers and a nicer stem, maybe a 1" CK headset too... :)

  • You know when you get one of those projects where everything just falls into place beautifull?

Well this definitely isn't one of them. But it will be great when it's done.

I wanted this frame & fork combo since the start of summer, but bought a cheaper Langster instead, which I then sold. Luckily it was still around. It will be a nice fixed beater with some decent, if tatty, parts and big tyres.

Problems I've had so far are:

-A pedal stuck in the cranks that just won't come out - the seller was very clear about this and the price was very (very) reasonable, but it just won't budge.
-The front wheel I bought last week not fitting in the forks - I managed to overlook the fact that it had a 10mm axle
-The bars I bought are a little bit too narrow for the grips/lever I bought
-I have two rear wheels - one has fancy bolts and the washers are missing (though hopefully on the way) and one is yet to be built.

All of these can and will be overcome - though unfortunately just by buying new stuff. Luckily I found a brand new Omnium left crank for £37 and a cheap brand new front wheel on Ebay.
