I was just trying to impose what I'd have done if I had bought it when you were selling :P soz

fair enough, this needs discs more than it needs gears imo

Can anyone advise on what rims I should get for my new wheelbuild? Need to be black, disc compatible (no brake track), wide and light, as close to 450g or below preferably. @amey recommended Frequency i23 but if Im using with tubes, will it be impossible to get tyres on?
Anything else I missed? DT r460 are also pretty light but not that wide

You can get rims as light as under 400g if you keep looking, ZTR have some example.

I'm using i23s tubed. No issues, and they are superrr wide.

Have read that stans are near impossible to fit tyres to, don't particularly want to be stranded unable to fix a puncture. Crests?
-
• #110710
wtb Kom i23 are half price on CR.
-
• #110711
Not impossible unless you never fit a tyres before.
As long you made sure the tyre bead sit in the middle of the rims, it's straightforward.
If you don't, it is almost impossible.

But @eone misread or mistyped, it's the i21 which is half price, the i23 and i25 are just at the regular price.

I found a SRAM Rival chainset on Ebay for a good price so my new bike is now with a full Rival groupset.
There was a lot of resistance fitting the BB so I'm terrified I've threaded something- but there was a lot of resistance getting the old one out and it looked fine after that so it might just have dodgy threads.
Its cross debut will hopefully be tomorrow, but for the last two weeks it's been a brilliant commuter. I said goodbye to the Genesis last night, but I don't regret replacing it for a second.

I've never had a problem with Paselas.
32mm Paselas > 25mm Marathon Plus I had on before
-
• #110724
Marathon plus is Latin for 'feels like riding on bare rim but wont ever puncture because its bare rim'.
Fit the widest most supple tyres you can .. always. It makes even 4130 bikes feel nice let alone something as nice as what you have. Never skimp on tyres.
Paselas are peasant tyres, this is clearly not a beater, it needs something better.
Track slack?
