Kojak or compass bon jon pass, nothing in between.

Non drive side so doesn't count. @tommmmmmm has so much paint job anti bikes that they become a character of stylish class for themselves.

They're literally new this week, the whole kit has done less than 100 miles probably. No way can it need new pads already!
-
• #110530
Might as well respray while you at it?

Once disk pads are contaminated (Oil or other like substances) the quality of braking goes down hill.
Though It is possible to clean them, pain in my experience though.

Deal with it

Now that is nice. Get a butler who rides behind you on the orange bike ;-)

Is there any chance the brake levers got squeezed without the rotors in place? If so the pistons/pads got pushed in more than necessary meaning that they need reseting. The pads are not necessarily contaminated and could be reused if this is the case.

Or this.
Though he did say the noise was whilst braking etc. Worth trying to reset pads and see if that works.

What's the recommendation for new pads, should it turn out I need them? I know that organic and sintered are things. The main requirement is that they last longer than 3 days.
-
• #110537
Sintered = long lasting pads, abrasive to discs, good wet weather performance, can squeal when wet, generate heat, can squeal when hot.
Organic = sorter lifespan pads, kinder to discs, not as good wet weather performance, quieter when wet, less heat into discs and calipers, quiet when hot.
When racing i sometimes used sintered up front for more direct braking in wet gritty races.
Always went with organic on the rear as i drag the rear brake, when dry would run organic up front too.
With the Hopes i found cold braking a bit vague on organics, once some heat was into the pads/discs performance improved. Sintered pads much more direct braking but offset with overheating.
Worst lifespan was 4.5 runs down cwm carn. The .5 is crucial as this was the point i left the track due to no pads left, this was organic resins in the wet on a gritty track :) -

Nice write up @853Superfly. As @Josh wrote it's worth a try with a flat head screwdriver before buying new pads @tommmmmmm.

Whoa daddy. Full pics?

Cheers for that, very helpful. This bike is mainly going to be a commuter though I'm hoping to debut it at Welwyn on the 16th.
I accidentally wore a pair of pads right down to the metal on my mechanical pull discs on the Genesis, it made a similar noise to what this is making now.

Doing what with it exactly?

Debut at welwyn Velodrome? Just moved back to herts and been meaning to find out about it... Is it in use? Are there training sessions? I've ridden a little bit at HHV, can I turn up and join in?

pista innit?
@voxelwise full pics pronto, you tease.
@tommmmmmm, ignore the h@terz, I like it. very snazzy paintjob -

I meant my bike making its cyclocross debut, at Stanborough Park. There is a velodrome in Welwyn run by the same club who are putting on this cross race (Welwyn Wheelers, who you've no doubt come across at HHV) but I don't know the workings of it.

Disc brake cleaner is all you need
Light tyres? 32 or 35 for a road bike? Im leaning towards clement strada lgg tan walled.
