Question: I have a rear hub that is a Hope 40t EVO.

Is it possible to run an XT M8000 11speed cassette without any modifications as with the XTR?

Hope says the M9000 works without any mods.

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. Don't take my word as gospel though, I kinda winged it with the Croix. The hub I'm running the m8000 cassette on is a Shimano M475 6-Bolt Disc hub.

The Croix de Fer build further up the thread was rad but left Mrs Otter without a training bike which was pretty essential for getting her racing legs back post-baby. While we were in hospital I got Jean at Pretorius to build her up an Outeniqua disc as a suprise. He even etched in a family 'in joke' onto the top tube to put a smile on her face whilst she is slogging out those hard miles. Need to cut steerer once dialled in and replace chainset with her powermeter, but otherwise it's good to hammer out the miles! Nice to have Mrs Otter on a Pretorius too.

It's cheap and that's the most defining factor in this country. :) I'll keep my eyes open for sweepy bars or maybe I'll just replace it with the one from my other bike.

I have finally replaced the damaged brake levers on my road bike and so can wrap my bars. Anybody got any ideas on a colour scheme, black or blue or green.

I don't think 72cm is that wide. As long as you can cut through traffic without it becoming an annoyance you could go even wider to 75cm.

Started this Gitane Project again this week. Paintwork is gubbed so am stipping it back and repainting it a new colour. Manged to get some nice Gitane original decals so will look pretty mean.

started stripping the paint with a heat gun and it works a treat! Better for the world than Nitromors too!
