  • Thats 8bar teufelsberg v1. Ahma means wolverine in finnish. Kind of tongue in cheeck nod to fashionable soma frames and orange all road fashion in general.

  • Orange frames are so hot right now

  • Orange frames are so hot right now

They were hot 5 years ago, it's just taken the rest of you a while to catch up

  • New forks/stem/seatpost kinda day. Some minor tweaking left and then it's good to go for spring time.

  • Go wide, something like a Mavic touring rims (A319 for instance), H+Son Archetype, that DT Swiss rims, etc.

You wanna go fast, not slow.

  • Got fed up of rubber grips on the run-around last night and found some 70s(?) Olmo bar tape in the cabinet. This:

    but black
Non adhesive, but it held really well to the bars, would recommend.
The technomic stem suits my t-rexness...

  • That's what everyone seems to be saying, and the science seems to make sense.

My wheels have been on order for a while now, so I'll just live with the ambrosio's till its time for a new rim.

  • Ambrosio and 25mm will still feel fine to ride anyway, so it' not like you made the wrong choice in life.

  • I know. I've been riding ambrosio's on two of my bikes for at least 5 years now, and I like the way they ride.

The way I see it: if there's a perceptible improvement, I'm just saving it for the next wheel re-build.

  • Nice project - hope to see it in the real world sooner or later

  • So, on topic of wound ups (really nice Klein up there)...

This may be a tester disapproved combo, but I think I quite like it - despite the slight head tube / fork crown discontinuity.

For so many reasons, the poor aesthetics being probably the lest of them. I'm not sure why they thought they had to make a short offset fork in the first place, but it seems that even then they couldn't commit to it so they just used the normal crown and flipped the dropouts around. Wound Up's way of making forks would be fine if they were a lot cheaper than ones made properly, but they aren't.

  • All going well with the build, I should be riding it to Cambridge next Saturday. Come along.

  • Today's progress on my CDF. The rear mech hanger hasn't been chased so couldn't get derailleur to go in smoothly. Do I have to get a shop to do it or can something be done at home?

  • I wrongly shorted a new 10-speed ultegra chain, measuring the chain lenght by big chainring-big cog technique I have just a half link of overlap instead of full link overlap. Any simple method for lenghtening (I'd need 2 more shimano joining pins?) the chain or should I just avoid this gear?

  • Do I have to get a shop to do it or can something be done at home?

You can do it at home if you happen to have an M10×1.0 tap laying around :-)

  • should I just avoid this gear?

If you accidentally try to select the big/big combo, it can be very destructive, so don't do that. It's probably easiest if you just put that chain back in your parts bin for future use on something which needs a short chain and start again with a new one.

  • Yeah, but you know - desperate tarck points. Also the specs match the original fork and it's drilled for a brake. And it is a quite nicely finished item.

That being said, I wouldn't mind respectable full carbon in 35-40mm rake.

  • Bike and kitchen flow well together.

  • I don't think I do.

I replaced stem, tape, saddle and tyres from stock and thought about new wheels, paintjob and cranks but then I accepted that spending money on the house was more important...
