Lovely, feeling that a lot. Ass savers are crap tho.

Cheers man. Ass-savers serve a purpose but are totally useless after a certain point

In an attempt to make my life 'complete' and to move one step further in mimicking that fantastic collection of yours @saarf I've just finished building up the Alan Super Record Cross. Not fully a Campag build but mostly Nuovo Record with some later Record Canti Brakes. Wanted to go with Aero routed brake cables so 'borrowed' the Dia-Compe levers from the Record road bike and fitted the Nuovo ones to that instead. Not a fantastic condition frame but nonetheless the silver colour is quite forgiving. Campag Barcons take a bit of getting used to shifting in reverse but the position is a lot more ergonomic than on the downtube. No more plans for this except to put some miles on it this winter and retire the roadie till the sun comes back out again. It's a 1985 frame and the component ages are a bit all over the place so not a purist build but certainly a good sturdy bike that'll definitely be a keeper.

I'm re-assembling my Surly Cross check after a lick of paint by Black Teeth customs. Everything is going back together fine, but......
I'm just adjusting my front derailleur and the shifter doesn't seem to pull enough cable. I feel like I'm going mad, but it's just a simple Shimano brifter and the lever used to go up higher than it does now. It's like the shifter has suddenly decided to sto being a three speed. I can't see what could be different!
Is there an adjustment on these shifters I'm missing, have I put them back together wrong? I've tried taking the units apart, switching the spacers across etc.
Pics to follow.
