  • Badger has been out on a 30 mile hilly ride. Being french and handsome, he tried chatting up some rural Swedish females (cows and horses mainly) but had no luck due to lack of bartape and the ugly uncomfortable bars themselves. Deda piegas inbound and I'll give him a new chance after they're on. Otherwise no issues with handling, hard braking or anything really (subject has been debated here). We'll see how long that lasts. Anyway, reasonably pleased with the preliminary outcome - goal was to have a training bike for the wet months before the actual wet months set in and I managed it.

  • Nice stem, what is it?

Having some (difficult) decisions to make: keeping my Look KG243 classic in the front, going threadless, using chrome forks or carbon ones...

  • Carbon with a silver stem I reckon.

  • That was the combination I didn't try. ;-)

  • Nice stem, what is it?

A steel itm something. I vote carbon forks, silver stem too!

  • All this house moving stress has made my grumpy especially because not enough bike time. Decided to sort a winter bike once in for all. Its going to be mix of following:

    And Kinlin XC279 on Novatec.
Might be able to finish it by next weekend.

  • Accidentally bought Skinny's Pompino. Plan is for a cheap SSCX bike for some Epping winter fun and maybe the odd race. Alfine cranks on order, currently got v brakes on, are these really not going to work with road pull levers?

  • where you gettin frame from?

  • Picked this up off Ebay for £20. After research found it's not as special as the older steel frames. But gonna build it up, then maybe swap the frame out when something that is a bit special comes up.

Any suggestions? Only have experience with 70-90's steel frames. Thinking Campy group, carbon forks.

  • Bought one that was for sale on here few days ago .. absolute bargain for the condition with CK headset.

  • Picked this frame up today. Another Bumblebee maybe?

Building this up with black components would be pretty cool, but it would basically mean replacing every part (maybe a good excuse to upgrade the shitty parts though).

  • are these really not going to work with road pull levers?

Get some tektro V brake drop bar levers?

  • I really don't like the shape of their hoods though, got some Cane Creeks that I wanna use.

  • Had drop bar levers and V-brakes on my Pomp and worked perfectly. Cane Creek and Tektro do specific V-brake drop bar levers. I have some spare if you're interested and you think what you have won't work.

  • Then maybe this: http://www.bike24.com/1.php?content=8;navigation=1;search=travel+agent;menu=1000%2C4%2C320%2C321;product=79885

Before all that, try and see if they work, depends on how true your wheel is.

  • Cheers Chris, think I'll just give them a go and see how I get on, can get a set of mini Vs for £25 so I'll just do that if the braking is shocking.

  • I have Tektro RX6 (90mm arms) with Tektro (non V) levers, they run very close to rim and almost touch drops when fully pressed; brake well though for a sub £30 set up so not end of the world.

  • Double bumblembee?

Nice bike tho. At least you can keep the flite.

  • Whaddayamean not as speshall? Looks rad. Bargain at £20.

  • One winter bike to rule them all. Except no discs. But British winter is different from Swedish, obvs. Jealous!

  • Heard the Coppi name got bought out and made buy someone else? Still stoked on the frame, and for the price even more so.

  • How bad could it be? Build it up and ride it!

  • For sure. Feels a million times lighter then my other bikes.

Just got no idea when it comes to post 2000 bike parts. So yeah, new and exciting.

  • What are the brakes?

Tester pointed me to some 85mm Sora level Vs that are not light but very effective with road levers. The Tektro v levers are not nice IMO.
