Black and yellow stem is proper late 80s class to me.
Only thing I'd change is the seatpost / maybe a newer saddle. -
• #102710
What about one of these?
-
• #102711
Nah I really love black stems !
Got to change these tyres and find a nicer seatpost, this one's a cheap kalloy thing... -

Can I just use ordinary brake cable for the straddle(?) cable on a canti brake?
-
• #102713
Im sure it's strong enough, but do the canti's have a way of fixing/bolting it to them? If so, would it cause fraying/crushing of the cable?
Only canti's I've had experience of had a holding/housing slot for the capped ends of the straddle. -

I asked in the Roberts thread but maybe here is more the place...
Last year I dented the top tube of my Roberts in a stupid accident at home (bike fell off against a wall)
Story here:
https://www.lfgss.com/comments/9905439/I have now decided to get it fixed properly by Winston, and may consider a respray rather than a Halfords can fix (although last experience of that was quite successful.
I have also bought a Columbus minimal fork for the bike.
What's the common consensus on ahead headsets in one inch... Campagnolo record? Is there something decent in between that and the cheap M-part products?
I want to find a one inch ahead stem, with angle that keeps it parallel to the top tube... What do I need to look for on eBay? Steel ahead stem would be lovely of price isn't too prohibitive...
Need some new axle bolts for my early 90's raleigh mtb. Are they likely to be a common size? can't measure at the moment
