Black and yellow stem is proper late 80s class to me.
Only thing I'd change is the seatpost / maybe a newer saddle.

Got to change these tyres and find a nicer seatpost, this one's a cheap kalloy thing...

Can I just use ordinary brake cable for the straddle(?) cable on a canti brake?

Im sure it's strong enough, but do the canti's have a way of fixing/bolting it to them? If so, would it cause fraying/crushing of the cable?
Only canti's I've had experience of had a holding/housing slot for the capped ends of the straddle.

Taped the bars and took it out in the woods today and basically it was ace.

Last year I dented the top tube of my Roberts in a stupid accident at home (bike fell off against a wall)

I have now decided to get it fixed properly by Winston, and may consider a respray rather than a Halfords can fix (although last experience of that was quite successful.
I have also bought a Columbus minimal fork for the bike.
What's the common consensus on ahead headsets in one inch... Campagnolo record? Is there something decent in between that and the cheap M-part products?
I want to find a one inch ahead stem, with angle that keeps it parallel to the top tube... What do I need to look for on eBay? Steel ahead stem would be lovely of price isn't too prohibitive...
