Dabs may be good price wise but their customer service and use of Parcelfarce has put me off ever using them again.
I know [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/TrekStor-DataStation-maxi-160GB-SATA/dp/B001AE47O0/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1227625965&sr=1-5"]this[/ame] does not fit your criteria exactly but still.

i tried that, but for some reason the hardrive wouldn't let me add/remove anything???
You're using an old PC drive and want to access it with a Mac?
NTFS is the problem. Get that drive reformatted to FAT32 and then you can use it.

doesn't that limit you to a 4gb max file size?
i suppose that's fine unless you work with images or video -

Do not buy shite no-brand hard drives, you will regret it... Anyway, that's a shitty IDE drive with (not quite) 90 less GB.

If I got these would the HDD be bus powered, or would I need a power brick?
-

Bus powered. Be warned though, since the drive is large, you may need two usb ports to get enough power to the drive.
The usb lead that comes with the caddy has two usb plugs on the end, one is data/power (as usual) and the other is just power.
It should look like the lead above.Try it with one plug first and see if it works, if not you have to plug the other one in. This is the case with all bus powered drives, USB just can't supply enough juice for some things...

Dammit, I just noticed this drive has been reduced.
Western Digital 320GB 2.5" SATA II £49.99
For the extra £5 this is much better value with an extra 70GB. The other drive works out at about 18 pence a GB, the Western Digital works out at 15pence a GB.
I would go with the Western Digital.

Well maybe shitty was a bit harsh. Still, I haven't come across them before and I always stick to Western Digital/Toshiba/Seagate etc for drives. As I said, the freecom is most likely IDE and thus will be potentially slower compared to a SATA drive used in a SATA interface. I realise the above caddy I recommended is USB but since the drive is SATA II it could be used inside a computer at a later date or via a SATA-E cable to an external port. Read/write speeds will be much quicker in those cases.
Further, the freecom works out at at-least (given we don't know the
postage cost) 23 pence a GB, while the Western digital I mentioned above, with the caddy works out at 17.5 pence a GB.Just my 2 pence.

Find your Disk Utility and format it there, you will lose all the data tho'... At least I did, but it was just an old work backup drive anyway, so didn't matter...

plug drive in, go to Disk Utility (search using spotlight if you don't know where it is in your App folder).
Click your drive on the left (click on the drive rather than the partition below) Then choose partition from the right.
Select 1 partition, give the volume a name, click on Fat32 on the format combi-box.
