Big cooking session tonight - quick spicy pasta for tea, two big trays of biscotti for the coffee shop on saturday, burger patties for tomorrow's dinner and made jerk sauce to marinate the chicken for saturday night. I've never been so organised.

they look amazing. recipe?
http://www.joyofbaking.com/biscotti/AlmondBiscotti.html
Went with the top result on Google.
I added pistachios as well as the full amount of almonds. Didn't chop the nuts up, I like them chunky.
The method talks about forming a dough and rolling it out but I overdid it with the eggs and ended up with a gooey stiff batter which i roughly shaped on the baking sheet. All went well though.

We went veggie tonight and had a crazy 5 veg lasagne, with a spinach and ricotta top instead of bechamel, was pretty tasty and fairly quick, you could do it on a weeknight.
Should have put more parmesan on the top, and Tesco didn't have any pine nuts..
recipe here^ Reminded of this recipe, I made it tonight. Thanks Clefty! Added onions though and didn't mix the ricotta with the spinach.

Looks awesome Alex!
As do those biscotti, might have to make some of the chocolate ones I saw on the same site.
I need to do some baking, been too embroiled in the new griddle. -

The very same. I've heard them called 'crackling' and 'batter-bits', depending on location. Mini heart-attacks also works well.
My soon-to-be-ex-wife-from-the-north-east always called them scranchums... Delicious...
I bought half a kilo (eight!) of delicious spicy Galician chorizos from La Plaza on Portobello Road today for four poxy quid... Got home after a couple at Le Reej and rustled up a quick and delicious caldo with them, fantastic flavour... I cannot recommend this little deli enough, just up from Honest Jon's... I bought a huge Serrano ham baguette (no cheap bollocks, lovely crusty, Spanish rustique type thing) in there for two quid... Loads of other lovely freshly made Spanish sarnies to choose from... Really, go there if you're a local or just happen to be moochin' in W11...

This^, Hello anyone? Or any other similar company? Anyone?
I don't use that but I do use this http://www.japancentre.com/They do food, drink, kitchenware, books, gifts etc plus have a nice recipe section.
I love exploring foreign food stores though the sales periods can result in some interesting impulse shopping - !

^^R Garcia & Sons is another great place on Portobello Road. I made a point of buying my garlic from there, as it was always plump, juicy and full of pungency, unlike the dried-up, sorry excuse for garlic offered up by Tesco. Everything else is also excellent.

what's the quickest, safest way to defrost frozen salmon if you don't have a microwave (i don't).
i've got it in a bowl of room temperature water at the moment as that's what i do with prawns.

Not veggie.

Incidentally, rumours of my vegetarianism have been somewhat exaggerated. Part of my treatise on the matter is that the more veg we eat, the more we'll enjoy our fewer and more precious outings with meat. Today's recipes reflect that notion nicely, I think.
