  • Of course it is! Have you seen the price of that beast?

Mal appears to have killed our barmix whatsit. Do I replace or buy something like this ^^

  • I won a grand last year doing some extremely sketchy online gambling and was going to buy one but instead bought myself and the ex-missus iphones instead.

wish i'd bought myself an iphone and one of those instead now :(

  • I haz iPhone and don't spend money on ex's (remember: bury the body deep).

I showed Mal, she asked if they do a red one. Our kitchen is pimped - red goes faster. I bet one turns up in the next month or so...

  • Ginger Pig does 45 day aged rump and it's delicious.

Also try Chef and Butcher at the Natural Kitchen in Marylebone High St.

Wholefoods on Kensington High Street has plenty of aged beef, when on offer (there's normally always something going) it's good value.

You are all my meaty heroes. Man hugs all around.

  • Leave your meaty hero out of this, especially not with manhugs.......... People may start to talk

The kitchen aid is indestructible and i think it has a pretty awesome warranty if anything does go wrong.
Had ours for 6 years and has been used a lot and nothing has gone wrong on it yet.

  • For all you meat lovers, this site is pretty useful if you run out of ideas.

Also if you want something more in the way of a food processor the you cannot go far wrong with a magimix it is basically the domestic version of a professional food processor called a robotcoupe.

  • Right. The whole beef discussion has got me thinking about getting my hands on some Bison, which I haven't had in years. Has anyone had any experience with the on-line places like Kezie or Alternative Meats?

  • Heston Blumenthal featured alternative meats on one of his programs a while ago, he wasn't exactly complimentary, however that said his palette far exceeds that of mere mortals such as you or I. If it is something that you have not had for a long time that has the potential to evoke strong positive memories, then the standard of it will be secondary to the actual eating, I realise that this may sound like bullshit however a lot of great chefs try to evoke memories with food and it really does work.

Technically the quality of the meat will all be down to how it is transported, I would go with the site that gives you the most information about this. If you feel that they are not giving you enough information on the website don't be afraid to ask them questions I'm sure that there will be an email address on the site(s) go with whoever is most willing to answer your questions, as this is a good indication of the pride that they take in delivering their products. If you are still nervous then give it a shot but place a small order that way you have less to loose if it is not as good as you expected.

    Forum ride?

Not at all. The taste of fresh peaches covered in cream or the flavour of of butter pecan ice cream will always instantaneously transport me to my grandparent's kitchen.

I'm specifically looking for Bison as I used to eat it quite a lot back in the US - mostly as bison burgers - it was always so freaking tasty. So much healthier that beef too and, as I'm about to embark on a bit of a health kick as part of my rehab, I wanted a healthier lower fat/higher protein alternative.

Jaw - I did see that place and plan to phone and see if they take orders by phone. The others I mentioned are too vague on their sources for my liking.

It'd want to. I could buy 16 stick blenders (ours was ~4/5yrs old) for the same price.

What advantage does it have over a bamix? It can't do milkshakes can it? That alone kills it dead in the water, right in the face, dead in the water.

You can get stick blenders that aren't bamix, not as good but cheaper

  • I know. It's the fact that our "cheap alternative to Bamix blender" recently blew up that has me pondering food processors.

  • Going back a couple of pages but I recommend Ottolenghi on Upper Street too, really nice in there, and worth it just for a giant meringue and a cup of coffee.

  • Fair play, you could always get one of these:

That would let you make milkshakes by the gallon!

  • ^ Fuck yeah! Want!

  • Also good for air guitar apparently.

  • £120.. they're fucking cheaper than a proper baabaamix!

  • Cupboard:
    Long grain rice
    Arborio rice
    Pasta (all sorts)

    Ingredients:
Extra virgin Olive (Spanish or Portuguese, only)
    Garlic
    Bay leafs
    Rock sea salt
    Black peppercorns

    Tools:
    Hands

  • You should all start using your hands more often.

  • Or not.

  • Just made Ottolenghi's black pepper and chilli tofu.

Without doubt, the spiciest thing I have ever made, if not ever eaten. I found it totally delicious, but was defeated by heat once the tofu had run out. Tori had one mouthful and looked horrified. Oh dear.

Quite a lot of bother to make, but worth it to taste it, if only once.

What are the spiciest dishes you know?

Oh and to play the game:

    Cupboard:

    1. Basmati Rice
    2. Lentils
    3. Chickpeas

    Ingredients

    1. Cheese
    2. Pepper
    3. Onions

    Tools:

    1. Sharp chef's knife
    2. Knife sharpener
    3. Kettle
