  • urrrhrrhrhhrrrrh... it's a mystery as to what exactly qualifies that ever expanding spoon fellater to render an opinion on anything, least of all other peoples' cooking. tho the bloke with the boogly japanese cartoon character eyes is a far better judge than that aussie tool.

    verging on a rant, quality.!

  • it's all in the butter, Isigny ste mere butter makes any dish! i am an utter butter whore, we keep 3 - 4 types in the fridge - i picked up some Jersey butter for over £4 (200g) on sale and we worked it into a roast Guinea Fowl in every way and it was one of the best meals i have had..

    +1 Pip

  • what happens if you order bran flakes?

Then you'd probably get one of these: [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_pudding[/ame]

Edit: wait I thought i was on the last page of this thread when I made this reply but seems not

meh! it matters not. and i've heard tell of this 'white pudding' - for some reason i always thought it was an actual pudding as in sweet. seems i was wrong... so... very... wrong.

  • The French, inevitably, are very keen on boudin blanc/noir too - more grisly is Andouillette, a tripe sausage. Served cold.

  • mum just brought this to me. yum

    Send it back, no bacon.

  • i don't eat pork lol ><

  • Thought them bangers looked suspect

  • i know its a published recipie , but the topping is fab and the filling can be adjusted to what is available, fish, veg or meat. i tend to use a bit more cheese if the fish isnt too special, or its just veg. i have substituted pancetta and broad beans for the fish. good hearty winter tuck !

  • venison stew tonight...

meat has been marinating in port and guinness with thyme and bay leaves since last night.

i love the autumn and winter.

  • that sounds lush, winter food is awesome.

on a different note - chicken for jesus (that's what my mum calls it) tonight
    can't go wrong weekday meal.
none of that old el paso shite though..

  • ooh snap!

diety versions tho - no cheese, guacamole or cream or anything that makes it remotely enjoyable sadly... pretty much a sub-pret chicken wrap now that i think of it. can we come round yours rather?

  • just had my first brussels of the season.
    damn they're tasty....

meatball and veg stew. total cost, very little.
    total taste factor. 7/10.
    time factor: 20mins

Take carrots, brussels and broccoli, chuck in microwave till steamed
    take meatballs, fry.
Take Butternut squash, roast in small chunks.
add pepper, salt, oregano, soy sauce and basil to meatballs, fry more.
    add onion.
chuck in broccoli, brussels and carrots. chuck in butternut.
add veg stock cube and two spoonfuls of gravy powder (lazy)
    add water. simmer till thickened.
    eat.
    yum.

  • Brussels uuurgh!

  • BLEEeeruUUURgh!

  • Hmmmmm ... yum.

  • Taste like batteries.

  • Taste like batteries.

You must be "doing it" wrong.

Liver tastes like baterries to me.

  • I went to trullo for dinner tonight. It was really delicious. I used to cook with the chef there now when he was still with me at moro (worth a visit too)
I had the pappardelle with a beef shin ragu as a starter (now that was inspired) and also the venison carpaccio with pomegranate and rocket (very simple but lovely)
For a main I had the chargrilled lamb chops with roast butternut squash and sweet potato. It was great. The lamb is marinaded in anchovies which gives it an unsuspectingly delicious quality.
I reccomend this place. Not too unreasonbly priced, two people, three courses and a couple of drinks £65

  • Looking for some advice, for tonight. Heading out east for a bit of a party / see where the road takes us night. I wanna take her for a meal first but don't really know anywhere in that area being a westy myself. Can anyone make any recommendation, looking for something kinda fun and not curry.

  • the Vietnamese places on kingsland road can be fun and some you can even take your own booze to and its dirt cheap!
