  • Fab joint effort with Mrs M, her seasoning of the chicken wings and pork belly always top notch

  • My effort:

Pigs in blankets and gravlax demolished before lunch.

  • Bang on with the starter, that's almost goats cheese but no dairy.

Chilli jam was with the cheeze course.

  • Roasties are my favourite. Merry Christmas to you and yours!

That is a Savoy cabbage wrapped nut roast, so tasty.

  • Turkey was average, I fell into the trap of thinking that it hadn't been in long enough even though the temperature said it was cooked.

Butterflied lamb from the barbecue was great, plus a bit of jeopardy as I didn't have that much charcoal so wasn't sure if it was going to keep hot enough to cook.

Shredded sprouts and pancetta was a hit and, most importantly, roast potatoes were banging.

  • Another two pages of wonderful.

  • The spread

  • That looks perfection šŸ‘

  • I didn't take any whole table pics but here's a couple of food snaps.

Whilst many people aren't big on Turkey, I really like it.

  • Top work!

Brothers family round for lunch today, so we did two large guinea fowl - roasted on a bed of shallots, pancetta and a Reisling and stock sauce which we then added cream and mustard to

  • Great variation of coq au riesling - looks banging.

  • Mashed up roast spuds, with the sprouts bacon and chestnuts from last night. A little bit of spring onion to add some fresh bite. Warmed in the oven and then the left over stuffing burgers to go on top.

    Leftover bubble n squeak

Once cooked the stuffing patty and chives put on top

  • Pulsesā€¦

In laws gave me a pressure cooker. Where can I buy good quality dry pulses (chickpeas etc) as Iā€™d much rather get a dry ingredient and cook it myself than buy tins if possible. Which brands are worth looking out for?

  • The main thing I find is that you want to use somewhere where they at least semi regularly sell whichever pulse. They can sit on a shelf for ages and you don't really know they aren't as fresh until you cook them.

  • Leftover Boxing Day roast duck.

  • I'm looking for a good apron - having been enamoured with Stanley Tucci rustling things up in his kitchen. Typically bib aprons tend to give me a slightly sore neck, so wondering if anyone here has a good recco?

  • Stanley Tucci

You may have found this already but this seems to be his apron in particular - not that it addresses your issue!
