Ottolenghi's celeriac steaks are great too

thanks all, will have a read and do some thing with, before it goes soft mushy and in the bin.

If you don't get around to that, celeriac soup is mega easy and delicious.

+1 for this, having done it a couple times. Really rich and great with a punchy salad

That sounds delicious.

Treat yourself to a Julienne peeler!

Cut into 3/4mm thick slices, remove peel, immerse in lemon juiced water to prevent browning, microwave until soft, then use as substitute for pasta sheets in a veg lasagne.

This looks so good. I've spent the past hour looking for things to go with it.

I'd fully recommend the two Prashad books.
The okra and tomato is also banging.

Wouldn't that be like cheating on Meera Sodha?
-
• #32412
Yes this was what I thought about earlier - have done this twice and it’s dynamite
-

One thing I don't like about Meera Sodha is the insane amount of oil in all her recipes. Other than that, I love her food. Except the weird bean thing I made. Which was just wrong.

But what did you eat with it?
-
• #32415
One time I think was some Italian sausages which worked very nicely
-
• #32416
We had it with chips and salad as if it were a 'real' steak
-
• #32417
Celeriac cheese. Ie like you'd make with cauliflower.

I went to a local turkish place and had tantuni yesterday. It comes with some little pickled chillis and loads of slices of lemon (probably two or three lemon's worth).
Are you actually meant to do something with all the lemon other than squeeze a bit on it?

Bought some italian sausages.
Got home late.
Saw that it's a 3 hour roast to start.
Fuck's sake.

• #32421
Cheers. So lots of lemon then

Had this tonight.
Damn me its good - I was almost eating the leftover Cafe de Paris sauce with a spoon by itself.
Had it with Italian sausages from the butcher, braised red cabbage and a load of broccoli.

Winning!

I've realise I'm all inverse snobby about Ottolenghi, but I think I'm going to have to reconsider.

Was missing that anchovy 'gentleman's' relish so I made some. So delicious, more lemony than I remember the bought stuff.

Agree, the Meera Sodha gado gado thing is GREAT!
