Probably the best I've ever eaten. The lobster roll was disapointing.
This was very tasty though and probably the best view from a restaurant window ever.
Today the lobsters get a break - looking for a good clam shack later.

Do it. The good thing about the restaurants in Maine is that many are quite old and they have survived because they are very good. The clam place we're looking at today has been there since the mid-50s.* Bad places just don't survive.
- - My mother remembers going there in the early 70s when we lived in Boston and stopped off on the drive to a ski holiday about the time of my 3rd birthday. /csb

Does anyone want to look after a toddler for a fortnight? (Month preferable but will take what I can get).

Nice. Just spent a quality evening cleaning up a litre of rapeseed oil getting spilled in the drawer under the hob. It poured down into the draw below, behind the units and keeps sleeping out onto the wood floor. Had to triple scrub every bottle of oil and vinegar and pan that I own.

Took the opportunity to scrub and re-season all my cast iron tho. And clean the oven. And drink a bottle of red and listen to Gid Coe so not all bad.

El Xampanyet is AMAZING. Proper little local place with really good food and local fizzy wine in big bottles for cheap.

If you like seafood go to La Paradeta. You queue up and choose what you want from the counter and then it's cooked and you pick it up when ready. Loved it

Re the skate chat upthread. It's one if those topics I feel split about. I love skate- it's delicious. It's also critically endangered. Feel really uncomfortable buying it these days
For those interested, the marine conservation website is worth looking at when buying fish. It gives the ins and outs of what is endangered and not.

Is that close to Boston? We went there years ago.

In Kittery, just across the Maine border from New Hampshire. About an hour and a half drive from Boston.

That is the one! My parents lived in Gloucester for a while and we ate there a couple of times (was about 20 years ago!).

My original visit there was winter of 1974 according to my mother.
It's a beautiful part of the world, especially in summer.
