Right, went out with Mrs.Nuknow to Soho hoping to try something new... discovered this place called
Princi Bakery >> alright, 1st of all the place is all cool and stuff, but is a wildwest inside,
there's no way you'll get a table easily, not unless you actually attack someone - physically! The staff (mostly Italian) are somehow retarded. I'm normally really patient with people, understand if
the english is not good (i'm not even British), try to make it really simple, but I can't take it if someone is
rude to me or ignore me when I'm paying to be served, Yeah, and it's not cheap. This is not the typical rest, it's more like a Bistro, lunch-time/quick-food (not fast food!) place... but what
really surprised me was the size of portions, I asked for a lamb stew with roasted potatos and it was served in a....
saucer sized plate!! for almost a tenner! When I asked If i could have more/bigger portion, the lady serving me
promptly replied: 'No, are you having this? I need to serve more people..' - beacause you need to go and grab your
food, like a canteen.
Ok, so by now I'm feeling like a douche just looking at my saucer-sized meal, not wanting to be rude pulling my card
to pay almost 20 fucking pounds for 1 saucer of stew, 1 mini saucer of spinach salad and a coke (Mrs.Nuknow
wasn't even hungry anymore..)... had to fight 3 ladies to get a seat, sat down, had my food, and guess whatFuck Yeah! >>
Burnt Ends
Pulled Pork
greasy Fingers
Mrs.Nuknow Laughing
Watching baseball
stink of fries
Happy Dinner..... All of this for £26.50.
We even brought a box with left overs (Mrs.Nuknow eats like a bird ; D)That other place - Princi - is definetely the place you want to go and grab a quick lunch,
the bread looks absolute lust, albeit the price being prohibitive, amazing Tiramisu and cheesecake too...
but some of the staff >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> :---- -

i can't stand rude or inattentive staff. i understand if people are busy or stressed (i've worked in cafes and bars plenty of times) but there's no excuse for lack of basic manners. i nearly walked out of the food lab on essex road last weekend because of the staff's total disregard for normal social politeness.
if you haven't been it's an order at the counter type place too. very short menu. a few soups, stews, sandwiches, salad and lots of lovely cakes and coffee. pretty good value and all of it absolutely delicious. really, can't recomend the food enough.
i stood there like a chump with my arms folded staring at this dude for about 5 minutes till he finally finished making pots of tea and coffee and generally looking confused. he finally composed himself, slowly focussed in on me... all i wanted was "hang on a minute"... even by sign language or knowing look would have done. i'd have walked out after a minute if i hadn't been entertaining the inlaws.
still, great sandwiches, coffee and cake so all was forgiven in the end.

A cameraman we use and a reporter who sometimes works with him swear by hot water as their beverage of choice instead of teas/coffees...
Silver tea they call it.
Benefits: Refreshing, when it cools down it's still good to drink whereas you might balk(i) at tepid tea. Confuses people in coffee shops when you ask for it as they don't know what and often can't justify charging for it..
Cons: It's weird.

My mum's friend only has glasses of hot water, instead of 'normal' cold. Freak.

^I felt a bit like a 6y old going to Hamleys, when I 1st saw the windows filled with all sorts of cakes, and breads and Pizzas.... I must admit, that's my weakness. Show me any sort of of 'patisserie' and I'm sold. That's why I think it is the place to shop'n'go, however being too pricy.
I bought 1 tiramisu, 1 banofee pie and 1 strawberry Mille-Feuille (all slices) - 13 squid! Ka$hiiing! -
