  • Honey, water, glucose/sugar, sodium bicarb is the crunchie type. Direct from bee's nests for toast/other stuff.

  • Thought honeycomb is the bee stuff and honeycomb toffee or cinder toffee for the leftpondians. Anything else is confusing for me.

  • This just in: red pomegranates in Tesco are more delicious than and IMO worth twice the outlay of the Spanish (so-called) pomegranate. Juicier, better colour, more intense flavour, less of the papery stuff between the seeds. Source: my mouth. Disclaimer: I have no commercial interest in pomegranete production. [phones broker, sells shares in EspanoPom]

  • Where do you pals buy galangal?

  • Where are you @giofox88? The grocer opposite planet organic on Stoke Newington church Street stocks it as does the one just off Newington Green towards the Alma pub.

  • This week I am loving sprout tops.

    Greens that taste of sprouts.

    Amazing.

    Also massively cheap.

  • I'm on Blackstock Road so either of them is within easy reach! Thank you

They also sell fresh seafood there.

  • I made almond milk for the first time this morning. So creamy, so nutty, SO GOOD. Why has it taken me so long?

Just neet to find a cheap source of nuts now.

  • There is an almond cordial in France...bit sweet but lovely cold on a warm day.

  • almond milk hospitalised me. it's fucking rank and poison to boot.

  • Do you have a nut allergy or was something more sinister going on?

  • cyanide poisoning?

  • nope, just almond milk. alien birth cramps, projectile everything followed by chronic dehydration.

    quite common according to docterists.

  • This? Common in cocktail bars here too. Need it to make a Mai Tai

  • Are you sure about that? Was there on Monday and didn't see neither, at the front of the house at least..

  • Refrigerator at the front of the back room has the fresh stuff. Not 100% if they have galangal there currently but maybe call?

  • They used to always have galangal - can check on my way home tonight if you want.

Fish are in the back room

  • Sainsburys often sell fresh galangal.

I went to my first chinese supermarket yesterday (Hoo Hing on the north circa) and bought wonton wraps, szechuan spices, miso paste and some other hard to find bits now I'm not living central, win.

In other news TKmaxx (and Homesense) have some good recipe book bargains, Mrs IP bought this lot sub £10 each...
