Are you at my house? Just finished a bowl. Lovely.

My veggie mother in law was once reduced to eating puffin pizza whilst on a fishing boat transfer from The Hebrides to Iceland. It was the only catering option.

Who has a nutribullet?
If so, are they worth it? Or are they part of the whole protein-avocado-chai-quinoa superfood wankery hype that you hear all these melts in the media / gyms / people who read the metro banging on about all the time (sorry massive stereotype)?
I'm contemplating investing as the prices are coming down a fair bit. I make smoothies every day with my hand / stick blender thing but don't have a proper food processor for more abrasive stuff. I don't necessarily need a full on food processor as I mostly want something for oats, seeds, nuts, hard fruits etc so that I can make energy bars / flapjacks etc, and broaden my smoothie horizons...

We have a Nutri Ninja, doesn't get used as much as we thought it would but we are in house limbo. It's very very loud and demolishes ice with ease. Never tried nuts in it, I have a little spice grinder thing that fits on the Kenwood for powdering oats if I'm adding them to a smoothie.
Kale still makes me gag, if anyone has a secret to making it palatable please share. -

Kale: steam. Shake dry. Fry in oil that has been infused with chilli and garlic. Season.
Smash.

Wash and drain your kale, take the stalks off (save for another time)... Slice some onions, chilli, ginger and garlic and soften in a large pan, add the kale and a good dollop of soy sauce... Low heat, cover, cook for 10mins... Delicious...

• #22067
Kale: Fry in butter.
Smash.

Whilst we're on the subject of kale... WTF is with this massaged kale I keep seeing everywhere? Are people seriously massaging their vegetables now or is this some new type of super-kale that somehow makes you even more pretentious and healthy? Please tell me it's not the former.
-
• #22069
I suspect it might be both :(
-
• #22070
kale? it's fucking seaweed that's somehow made it onto land. it needs to get in the sea. again.
-
• #22071
Ha, I meant in a smoothie, raw-with-no-trivia.
Ottolenghi does a mean kale recipe too, fried in toasted sesame oil with kecap manis and crispy shallots.
Why do supermarkets always sell kale chopped up, pisses me off picking out the stalky bits.

• #22072
I think I actually prefer seaweed to kale, wakame salad and loads of edamame... Mmmm
