  • CTM for English people, English people love it.

    cunts that we are ;D

  • tuna steak flashed with mirin, soy, fish sauce and yuzu

plopped onto rice noodles, spring onions, and sushi ginger

a healthy dollop of green chili shos

and a couple of kirin to wash down

    replete

  • My crayfish trapping tags arrived from the EA. Traps set, fingers crossed and ready for a Crawdad boil tomorrow.

  • Picked up some bargain John Dory fillets from our fish man. It seems they don't sell well for some reason so we got 6 fillets for £6

Pan fried in butter and then a simple white wine sauce to accompany along with some new potatoes and spring greens. Absoultely delishous, reminded me why John Dory is my favourite white fish.

  • any slow cooker recommendations? Total noob; what should I be looking for?

  • slow cooker boeuf bourguignon springs to mind.
Look for cheap cuts which improve with long cooking times.
    Oxtail too me bee

  • ^^ a slow cooker.

  • soz I meant I need to buy a slow cooker first

  • picked one up at tescos for under 20 notes. there really isn't much to them. 'cook slow' and a 'cook even slower' setting and that's yer lot.

  • Or you could get one that has lots of bells and whistles but does the same job.
    (get a cheap one).

  • Sorry jumped the gun! Once u get it, one order of boeuf bourguignon please!

  • Roasted those tomatoes I got the other day.
Halved, removed seeds and liquid bits.
Garlic, olive oil, salt, pepper, sugar, balsamic. Roast well.
Deglaze with the seeds and liquid bits.
    Winner winner chicken dinner.

  • You need a tandour, have you got a garden?

  • Slow cooker is a slow cooker is a slow cooker.

Saying that avoid ones with the metal non stick pans, sear and cook (?) go for ceramic pot.

Can lend you one to see if you will actually use it and what size you need.

  • Made a massive pot of beef ragu with neck bones and cheeks yesterday, simmered gently for about six hours and it's turned out amazing... Love me some ragu...

  • Another vote for slow cookers with ceramic pots. You can usually find a Morphy Richards deal.

However, as a sideline, some Sous Vide cookers also work as a slow cooker if you'd like to double up?

  • Just made a breakfast salad with the cold beef cheeks and some red onions... Drizzled with gallons of good olive oil and served on toast, magical... #burp

  • I wish I had a garden.. But even then, I doubt I'd get a tandour. Do you own one?

  • John Dory - how can something so ugly taste so good?! Well jell of 6 for £6.
A customer where I work ordered JD (that days special) and liked it so much he ordered it again.

  • Mr Dory looks a bit tough and chewy. gonna need a slow cooker just to render down the parka.

  • An Aussie collegue is emigrating and has offered me the opportunity to purchase his BBQ. We already have a Webber which does the job but doesn't have any height adjustment on the grill, this one is gas and he swears by it. Yay or nay? Looks to me like a range cooker with wheels?! Doesn't come with the steak in the pic.

  • That's a pretty standard large Aussie style gas BBQ. It won't have any height adjustment either but you can obviously turn the burners up and down.
Gas is nice for midweek dinners as its instant but charcoal tastes nicer.

  • gas? that's just an outdoor stovetop. wood/charcoal in a half a barrel or go indoors.
