  • Also The Modern Pantry, across from the Dove. I agree on that area, work there, there are some good options.

@jim1985 however, I'd do something down this line: Saturday stroll through Broadway Market, few drinks up the roof at Netil360 just around the corner in the afternoon, dinner at 7 sharp at Hill & Szrok. Best meat I've ever had. No reservations and sort of communal stools seating, but works well if group of 4 or so and before 7. Get there late and you will have to queue and forget about the best cuts.

  • harvester. gammon steak & pineapple and 9 pints of fosters. your dad'll love it.

    who wouldn't!

  • ^this. But with Doombar.

  • The one and only time I've barfed from gluttony was after a Harvester knickerbocker glory. #csb

  • Got a bunch of frozen kaffir lime leaves up for anyone who wants free.
Had them for a while in the freezer and won't be using them. Thought I would give them away instead of throwing it out.
    Kings X pick-up.

  • Oh thai curries here we come

  • im craving curry...just not as abundant here in NYC.

  • Say what. Have you tried little india? There is nothing that NYC can't.

  • sometimes crackers, cheese and an apple are all that are required to satisfy the palate; tonight is such a time - beautiful sunset btw.

  • Your right there Jackson heights but what i meant it's not the same as london with a half decent local curry with in a stroll or at least a delivery near to home. I will check out little india :)

  • Used to work next to it, I was there basically every other lunch.

  • Been in Portugal 4 days, no Portuguese food eaten. We're in a place entirely populated by rich English people so all the restaurants are shit and expensive so I don't want to waste my money. Did go out on a bike ride yesterday and have a 70cent espresso in a cafe with 10 Portuguese men playing cards around a table.

    I need grilled octopus fast.

  • wut? where the fuck are you in portugal that you can't find a decent plate of dead sea cockroaches?

  • Mate, ask a local and they'll put you right... Polvo à lagareiro is what you wanna be asking for... Memorise...

  • to be fair - there is no shortage of 'full english breakfast+carlsberg' shitholes in the algrave, but yeah - just follow the locals, or get on trip advisor, usually a good source of info for people who've found themselves in a similar situation as you.

what sort of cunt goes on holiday to a place with a proud local tradition of delicious eats only to shovel a plate of sub-iceland quality fried horsecock down their gullets?

  • sheepishgrin.jpeg

  • eight sugars or nine?

  • i sed fakkin chips, don you understandee english or sumfin..?

  • got any recommendations or are they all good standard.

  • So you recommend calsberg as the breakfast beer. Witherspoons4lyfe

  • or the freshest wine... for the laydeez.

  • If it makes you feel any better I had some lovely grilled octopus in Lavender Hill on sunday.

    Good luck in finding stuff.

  • Have you tried the lahore kebab house on commercial road? A little further but the food is different more pakastani...BYOB too

  • I managed to book Tayyabs in the end.... someone dropped out, leaving 9 and a table at 8pm.

  • Indianwise I really liked Chote Nawab

But anywhere around there you can find other good options. Also, unlimited free naan and plain rice in any restaurant, unlike London.

If you want a good Thai in the same area, check out Little Basil or Thainy around the corner, or go to Pok Pok in Brooklyn for awesome pad thai.
