Italian-american food is rad if you are from italian-america. I get a bit nostalgic for its combination of mushy pasta, huge meatballs, hella parmesan and whatnot. I can't imagine liking it if you are forrin though.
The other thing aside from the above mentioned sea insects in those parts are "grinders" which are giant sandwiches on soft bread. They look something like this:

Can anyone give a couple of reccomendations for resturants in Barcelona? I've done a lot of research / trip advisor etc, but if there's anywhere people have been recently and loved then any help would be greatly appreciated. Something in Les Corts would be even better

it looks delicious but it is, as you rightly point out, just a great big sandwich. curious as to what makes it distinctly new england-y. are those delicious slices of stephen king in there?

It's mostly the regional name of that type of sandwich but they are pretty good at making them happen. Soft white bread is the thing.

Vermont, btw, is a rustic bearded land of lots of breweries. If you are of a beer drinking nature and enjoy US American style thick, well-hopped, IPAs and cetera you should find some interesting things there.
It also has a large 'ashram' devoted to this sort of stuff http://www.ruhanisatsangusa.org/. I was raised that way and so went there sometimes with my mom. One time when I was like 12 I befriended a mustachioed older kid with a killer Datsun Z. We hung out in his car, smoked weed, and played 80s hair metal on his car stereo. It was a cool contrast to all of the meditation going on. /cool story Joe.

Struggling to see the point of this show. Feels like I've heard it all before, many times. Not enjoying all the meat close-ups either :/

Not sure whether to post here, or in Epic Fail.

The new place won't be the same, and Camden really can do without yet another "authentic coffee " experience. I've been going to Marine Ices since I moved to Camden Town in 2000, and the charm was the proper italian family atmosphere. The tacky signed celeb pictures were funny, but even I was made to feel like a cherished regular when I bowled up for pizza and the best whitebait in london.
The ice-cream has noticeably gone downhill since they stopped making it on site. I know I'll still be there on sunny days, but I'll be very sad when the old place is knocked down and replaced with the inevitable flats. -

last time I was in Barcelona I ate pasta in a gay bar.

That's a better idea. Much cheaper.

I hope that was sarcasm...

If you're feeling spendy I've now been twice to Chotto Matte and it was really nice. Similar to Sushi Samba in that it's Peruvian/Japanese combo.

Has anyone been to this Pie Deli in N5, it's like all my northerner dreams come true.
yup, i'm told by Mrs Hell that chowdah and lahbstah are pretty much synonymous with that part of the world and like you, i'm not a fan of anything that eats fishcrap for a living.
i'd also rather avoid 5 star eating experiences, they cost a lot and this trip isnt shaping up to be exactly cheap. If the food channel on the telly is anything to go by, pretty much every street in the USA is festooned with mom 'n pop gee golly gawrsh aint everythin' swell down home grits, greens 'n gravy gaffes where everything costs a dollar and a smile.
