  • Modern-day types will probably insist on calling it 'Bordeaux red wine'...

  • Waitrose have a cracking Blason du Rhone on offer at the moment, which would be cracking with a nice bit of steak and you don't have time to go to a specialist wine merchants.

  • Peppered beef jerkey

  • So a bit of a delay, but how did this go? Success?

Only got back from new years eve holiday last night. I work on glacial time scales.

  • Can anyone recommend a good Slow Cooker recipe book?

Went for a 2011 Malbec, Belly ribs followed by 800g Porterhouse to share with chips, bone marrow and creamed spinach. Steak and ribs were perfect, you can keep the bone marrow mind, not my bag.

  • To make 'sticky' rice, is it essential to have a rice cooker? I want to try to make rice cakes for big rides as I'm getting sick of sweet energy bars etc.

The recipe from the below specifies using a rice cooker and sushi style rice; if I get the right type of rice is there another way of cooking it that will produce the same kind of effect?

    Ta in advance

I've used this, it's amazing, but in my experience took a bit of trial and error

  • Sounds like a fitting birthday feast Gatti, good one.

The spinach at Hawksmoor is great and for me the ribs were probably the nicest thing I've eaten there - absolutely amazing.

Thanks man. Do you need to go to specific shops to get it or is it quite widely available?

I don't think we can be friends.

Semi-widely available. You can get it in the rice/foreign section of big supermarkets, i.e. the big Sainsbury's in Angel

3rd time i've had it and it still doesn't sit too well. The tops nice its just the glissening plasma that puts me off. Much like the time i had breaded calf's brains at Magdalen, in theory it works, but chewing on brains seemed a step too far.

Awwwww. Lemme know how it goes when you get round to it.

When the zombie apocalypse arrives you'll be groaning out loud for them.

    Just you see.

  • had 'texas joes' at brew dog shoreditch today

wouldnt recommend, pretty lousy considering it wasnt cheap.

£4 for fries I expect magnificent fries, unseasoned and bland.
Burger was a meh mix of ingrediants following the fad of 'pile all these toppings and relishes and BACON and CANDY BACON, and MORE BACON CHEESE SAUCE, WITH BBQ AND CHILLI SAUCE'

    4/10 wouldnt buy again

  • Bacon, you say?

  • why did you eat in brewdog??

  • thought id give it a go since it was a new menu

  • One of the housemates brought home Paul Hollywood's bread. I got bored and baked Biscotti.
