  • I'm off to Hawksmoor's new gaff tonight, Foxlow

  • A mini xmas market popped up right outside my work today so had grilled ox heart skewer with a quinoa salad for lunch. V tasty indeed. Would eat again.

Could do with more of this type of thing in Reading. Might drive out a Starbucks or a couple of Costas. We can only hope.

    Full review please!

I'm thinking of buying a meal out for my sister and her boyfriend for xmas and this is top of the list for venues.

Menu looks pretty great (and not absurdly pricey), I like that it's clearly a beef specialist but offers a bit of variety too

  • Does anyone know where I can buy some turkey wings?

  • Dombey's in Market Row, Brixton sell them...

I buy them all the time...

  • Pork vindaloo last night.

  • We're having our works xmas meal at hawksmoor this year but I reckon I'll still be going back to foxlow early in the new year as well.

  • Good to hear all the positive reviews of Foxlow! Will definitely be purchasing a gift voucher for the sibling.

Also, I want to make the banana / PB / oat bars from here (combination of three of my favourite ingredients), but dunno where to find coconut oil - it's not in the Stoke Newington Morrisons or Whole Foods.
Any ideas? Or do you reckon I could get away with just using butter and adding some desiccated coconut for flavour?

Which means Waitrose must stock it as well. has to be cheaper at one of those forrin shops though.

  • Whole foods piccadilly and most holland and barrets sell it

    Hi Jim,

If you're near Stoke Newington, the Tesco on Green Lanes (just off Newington Green) definitely stocks it. I don't think it's with the regular oils and quite possibly with the 'Asian' foods (if you go in, turn right, it's the last aisle before the fruit and veg on the right hand side). It comes in what looks like a jam jar and isn't cheap (about £5) but should sort you out.

  • 1 tbsp coconut oil, plus extra for greasing - reckon you could use butter...

  • Don't any of you lot ever shop at local shops? You can get coconut oil in most of them in the Stoke Newington area. I imagine the excellent Food for All in Cazenove Road probably stocks it, but there are certainly plenty of 'normal' food shops that do.

  • They're the Waitrose generation, Oliver...

Both Morrison and Whole Foods are 'local' to me. They also happen to be the last two food shops I visited. Is that allowed?
