  • Pffffft. They cost more or less the same as a tefal pan and will probably outlive me.

  • My Grandmother-in law found out that I'm cycling from Bilbao to San Sebastian tomorrow and prepared a potato salad big enough for about six people. She said that "that's what they used to eat years ago".

    Maybe in the fifties.

I showed her the dazzling array of electrolyte tablets and other brightly-coloured supplements that I'd be consuming over the course of the day, but she was having none of it. I think I might have just ruptured something getting into bed.

  • Bought two de Buyer mineral pans last week, they are a revelation.

    best pans.

I hope you have fun Paul!

  • As a result of making such a good job of demolishing at least three kilo's of potato salad last night, I awoke this morning to find yet more had been made.

It has of course all been consumed - I'm not a rude chap, but I can safely say that if I had a carbon bike I reckon I'd snap it. I'm so grateful of titanium right now.

    Still, onwards.

  • Carbo load FTW.

  • i can't wait to read the account of the carbo offload, the pureed potato poo

  • I came on here to find out what Bank Holiday delights you lot were eating and now have a disgusting mental picture. Thx. ;)

have been giving this far too much thought

the idea of cycling with 6kg of spud salad inside quite appalls me. given the digestive effect of cycling as it kneads the colon, i can imagine B&D's guts turning into the human equivalent of a piping bag

  • yes, but chocolate starfish swirls

  • Super excited to be going tomorrow. Gonna go for a veggie dish I think

OH MY DAYS. It's shut today isn't it. I've been thinking about going ever since last night!!

Need a new plan asap! Here's the requirements, suggestions please:

relatively cheap (c.10-15 per head for food)
meat based, am thinking steak or bbq
    prefereably in east
pub type vibe (i want beer).

which is the best of all these new bbq places? Like Duke's Brew&Que etc?

  • Sumo made sushi. It was divine.

  • Had some smoked mackerel that I opened a while ago and was pushing it a bit.

Took the skin off, flaked it into a bowl, added some full fat cream cheese, a roughly chopped birdseye chilli, a handful of fresh chives, some lemon zest and juice. Mashed it together. Having it on double toasted toast (nearest I could get at home to some proper melba toast)

Absolutely awesome and quick comfort food.

  • not that mackerel from the other day? that was about a week ago!

  • If it's smoked.
    It's okay.
    always.

    Nah : ) different mackerel.

    /regular mackerelist

  • i know right? its an amazing idea

  • I've got a evian bottle full of yolk.

  • possible euph

  • Barbecue barbecue barbecue barbecue barbecue barbecue. ENOUGH!

In other news, I made some potentially great stock lats night with a view to making spicy ramen tonight. Got carried away with the "Use what you have in the house" mentality and put half a lemon in it. I now fear it tastes like lemon scented fairey liquid dishwater.

  • It's a mistake you only ever make once though.

Roasting a chicken with a lemon inside, then removing the lemon & using the carcase for stock, however...

  • Barbecue barbecue barbecue barbecue barbecue barbecue. ENOUGH!

    Never.
