I followed her after seeing the stuff above. And then decided I couldn't handle being taunted costantly with links to tasty food. So I unfollowed. True story.

Just popping out for ingredients now - only just been reminded about this shrove tuesday lark and I've conveniently just finished work for the day. What to have on them? Tempted by suggestions of savoury but natch can't be sugar/lemon for truly speedy tooth decay.

I want to make cornbeef like mum does. In Oz you can buy it in the supermarket - usually a big chunk of vaccumed packed meet (brisket) that has been salt cured. You then boil it in water with little onions, bay leaves and pepper corns. Slice it thick (like what you get on salt-beef bagels) and have it which cauliflour cheese, mashed spuds and picalilli. Its bloody fantastic.
I don't want canned shit.
I dare say I can get said cut/type of meet in the UK - but is it called something else? Can't seem to see it in the supermarket/butchers. -

Is this what you're after?

Brisket - definitely. I think TS mentioned the central american butcher in Brixton sells it. It's slow cooked for BBQ* back home for me.
*Indirect heat. NOT grilling!

TS - do you really have a local dealer? The south american place I used to get meat from in Brixton closed down.
