I look forward to cyclists being banned from using bus lanes for exactly the same fucking reason.
Oh, that's not going to happen is it.I didn't even know that Ealing specifically had a bus lane trial. I thought it was the whole of London. I would now like to see buses and taxis banned from bus lanes and cars banned anywhere within the M25.

And Aussies (except the one who works for me, she's very good)

We own this place now. You ran it into the ground and we're here to
pilage it dryclean it up. -
• #530
I'm happy for you to do that...just outside the M25
-
• #531
Have you read the report?
-
• #532
YAWN YAWN YAWN. Why is everyone so intolerant?
-
• #533
There's fuck all evidence to back up any of it
There's loads. They just haven't finished making it up yet.
-
• #534
And waste my time?
-
• #535
That it's inconclusive and contains flawed evidence. And based on my experience of riding my motorcycle around London - that I can get around quicker, with no noticable increase in risk, and with the added bonus of getting up a bit of speed by drafting Scoble on his shopper.

Or to gather some evidence worth writing about.

"There were significantly more motorcyclist casualties especially from crashes with cars turning across lanes or changing lanes."
So the cars' shite driving causes the problems, so we pander to them and keep other people out of the lanes; genius.
Indeed. Never had a problem with actual clutch-having motorcyclists, myself. Scooterers are a very mixed bag though.

Now how many speeding/law breaking motorcyclists been caught in bus lanes? How many law breaking cyclists? At the last meeting that I mentioned?
Never let the truth get in the way of bias.
PS which trial are we talking about? If its the initial bus lane one, its quite famous that the report was bias as the unpublished (tho given to several groups and leaked) showed what happens with better maths.

The LCC can fuck off, fucking hypocrites...
Agree with you.

I don't mind sharing the lane as such but it seems like most motorcyclists ride like inconsiderate assholes. Overtaking cyclists at high dv INSIDE THE SAME LANE with no warning. Bikes don't have mirrors and wont see a motorcycle flying up from behind (as the motorcyclist may subconciously assume based on experience with cars). I've twice had motorcycles pass on the right, inside my lane, close enough to brush my sleeve. Fuck that.

no wing mirrors is no excuse, half the cyclists can't and don't check over their shoulders,
why are you leaving so much space on your inside?? if a motorbike can get between you and the curb then you check your road position -

Should have stated - if you are in the inside lane and a curb is present

but motorbikes are nosiy and cause other pollution as well.
and i think they are dangerous.
i get frightened by motorbikes in the bus lane every day !

The cycle superhighway is a useless strip of blue paint
well except that they have helped legitimise, normalise and popularise cycling in london !

I waiting on a summons to be a witness to an accident between a guy on a CBR900 riding south bound on the Holloway Rd in Sept 2009. He hit a pedestrian who was crossing the road. The ped was crossing from the far side; the ped was walking between traffic that was stopped at a red about 80m away, he walked out into the bus lane straight into the path of the CBR. The ped is disputing it's his fault.
I rarely have any trouble with mb's while riding in Lnd and often find the to be exceptionally aware and polite, giving way and acknowledging my presence. If only the same could be said for twist and go scooter riders who seem to be the baine of my commute.

can anyone please tell me an argument for motorcycles?
they cause far more pollution:
http://camdencyclists.org.uk/camden/campaigns/p2w-buslanes-08-08/p2w-non-CO2-pollutants
have far higher casualty rates
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motorcycle_safetycause a lot of noise pollution
[http://www.phhp.ufl.edu/welcome/publications/phhpnewsfall2004.pdfthe evidence provided took me 3 minutes to collect but given a little more time i could provide more reputable sources. but i couldn't be arsed. as most of the people on this forum assert themselves based on their commute to work.

Not the curb side. Me in the middle of the bus lane doing ~15 mph, motorbike passing in the 1-2m gap on my right at ~25 mph. Happens nearly every day. -

And they seem to think stop ahead boxes with the bike logo on them are for motorcycles.
motorcycle tax disc states 'bicycle'
