  • This is why all my cameras are autofocus... my crappy eyes/captain amateur technique would never get a sharp shot otherwise...

  • Pretty much. Going to stick to using the eos 30 with brand new portra from now on. Fucking film.

  • BRO... Buy a Hexar.

  • night time/long exposure shots? i've found/read that these need to be shot with the distance selector set on 'Mountain' otherwise they do come out blurred

..trying to understand how this would make any sense, failing so far..

  • These are the only ones

I (surprise) like the one with the mattress, but seriously, I do, very nice colours. Would personally crop this (just keep the bottom half), I think it'd be "stronger" that way.
Also like the beach shot! Doesn' look like great film material, but still could be improved further in post, it's a nice shot.

I know how frustrating it is to pay a load of cash and realize it's basically all shit, but honestly I learned a lot from these experiences.

  • Like: stop taking pictures of boring shit in shit light while being shitfaced using shit film.

Ah yes. Film teaches that lesson far more painfully than digital. Sadly I still do it on digital...

  • Yea if you do this you definately have to shoot huge, uncompressed RAW files, so you have a hell of a time sorting out the good ones or else be punished with having gigabytes of shit on your harddrives..

  • Yeah, lesson learned. There's at least a couple I'm sort of happy with.

    Another one...

*I potato-chopped the for sale sign because I couldn't get rid of it.

  • Anyone know of a good photo storage solution? Like a cabinet or something?

  • i have no work to do today.

  • Went to metro imaging yesterday as it was nearby my lectures, picked up some TriX 400 and ektar 100 (no portra apparently).

Started with the tri X as it was glooomy yesterday, 7 exposures down.

Jotting down notes of what settings I used, what I was aiming for from each photo etc so when I get them back instead of just "that was shit" maybe it will be "that was shit, use a faster shutter speed"

I expect there will be a lot of shit...

  • Any interest in my old gw690 for £150 before I ebay it this weekend?

  • Any interest on a mamiya 645 with prism and 80mm sekkor lens? £120 posted!

  • Stop it you two. I can't afford those things.

  • Still struggling to work out the best scanning workflow with my Epson V550, I've tried SilverFast and Vuescan but seem to be getting the best results (to my eyes) using Epson Scan and adjusting in Adobe Camera Raw, here are some of my scans vs the labs scans i get when i have films processed.

Which are which, and what is your question now?

  • Yashica electro 35 gtn/gsn. Can be picked up for about £40 or less. Similar to the Lynx but not as expensive, great 1.7 lens. I love mine.

..I understand @Vesalius is set with the Pentax SLR now, but I just stumbled over a nice flickr album from Paul Ghica - who took on a challenge to only photograph with one camera, for a year; a Yashica Electro 35 GSN. Nice stuff!

  • Those are fantastic!
