have done about 4500 scans on the coolscan iv ed in the last few months and not had a single issue with the scanner nor the processing programme nikon scan 4.0
seems to do a great job too -

Using a QUATO Intelli Scan 5000 with Silverfast 6.
Can't compare with another scanner really. It's apparently almost the same as the Plustec 8200i.
It's not scanning that fast, and you have to feed each slide seperately by hand.
Quality seems to be rather good in that price range.
Unfortunately it does not work with VueScan, so I have to use SilverFast, which is a capable program, but a huge pain in the ass to use.
Really. It drives almost everybody I know nuts, and the support is shit.
Afer scanning 1000+ frames I get the results I want most of the time, but still wish I had an alternative. -

Very nice!
I picked up a couple of rolls of Ektar from west end camera today, not very happy as the rolls shot on the gr1 mostly looks really overexposed and most of the pictures were boring anyway, that was obviously my own fault. In hindsight I should have been less lazy in composition as now I see I had some opportunities for some really cool shots when I either was off on angle or focus.
I also bought a roll of cinestill and was told that it was flying off the shelves, I just need to decide what I shoot it though and at what speed now, any ideas?

My latest offerings...
Kodak Portra 400 & My Pentax 645 and scanned at home, I'm still super happy with getting everything processed at Rapid Eye in shoreditch if anyone is looking for a mini lab, going to give vuescan a go on my next roll and see if the results are any better

This made my balls clench. I could swear I've seen that spot in a trials riding video from the 90's with Martyn Ashton or someone...

No offense drew, it's good photography, it really is,
but why the fuck display humans with an expression like this, I don't get it.If she were standing in front of me I'd like throw water in her face and shake her,
to see if there's anybody in there. -

Gone,
Care to share more information? I really like the effect of the second picture, the street scene. Is that slightly overexposed? Metered off the camera? How, how, how? The light is very impressive. -

..for one roll?

I found Silverfast a bit buggy and unpredictable tbh. Vuescan, aside from some preliminary tinkering to get it set up (plenty of info online) is flipping great. Only downside? HDD space becomes a premium.
